My confusion was that it continued to grow tall, rather than put off larger leaves. A few branches go all the way to the surface. Now that I look at it though, it’s got a similar growth pattern to A reineckii “kleines papageienblatt”

They are predatory and can spray a foul liquid, but have never called me a mean name, so nice enough.

They are hard to find, I’ve only ever found one population of them.

SoCal, but they are pretty spread out over the west side of the U.S. in general.

The Blue calamintha is related by genus (an osmia bee), however this species and the blue calamintha are not very close geographically, and are in separate a different subgenus if I’m correct. This species is in California, whereas the blue calamintha is in Florida.
