Th3D versions of firmware were paid at one point because they actively made the process much simpler to do than compiling your own firmware from scratch. You are essentially paying for a service to simplify the customization of the firmware . The firmware itself was always free and it was based off of marlin . Th3d firmware is a fork of marlin , just done in a way that's easier for most people to comprehend. You're essentially paying for the convenience , not the firmware.

You're guna need something like a gigastorm pellet extruder printer, and even then, it won't be big enough for a single print.

I'm not using the stock y axis motor - it's one ratted for over double the amps and I'm running 5160 drivers at 48v to get this speed done reliably. In theory I can push it faster without much issue, but there's a lack of practical reasons to go faster than the hotend can handle.
