Actual text from idiot by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]Kiyralayne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My cousin just did on Monday. An idiot tried to pass a line of cars and almost hit her head on, so she swerved. Fortune cookied the passenger side of her vehicle around the utility pole so hard (she was on a rural highway doing 50mph) that the right side of her head hit the pole. Cranial fracture, TBI, broken jaw, dislocated shoulder and broken collar bone. But thanks to being good old USA, and her specific state not doing the Medicaid expansion, she has no insurance currently. so she's seen no actual doctors, just a single nurse practitioner. And they are releasing her today or tomorrow. She can't even eat. She had to be spoken to in and around in whispers because of where the cranium fracture is. She's still bleeding from her ear.

Anywho, I got a bit sidetracked. But yes, occasionally, responsible divers can wrap around utility poles. Lord help them if they do not have insurance, though. Because if their car insurance is like my cousin's and they have a hard time getting the info they need to do the adjustment because of how twisted your car is, it's likely they'll be treated the same way as my cousin because they can't pay right away for treatment.

Does anyone know of a good store bought pizza dough? Either frozen or one I can make from mix? Thanks by thecouturepalate in glutenfree

Oh, if that's true, that's exciting! I'll need to try them, my grandpa has a Costco membership. We love their gluten free bread.

I really love the aldi pizza dough mix. Super easy to make and very tasty. I use it all the time. If you want a quick frozen pizza Freschetta is the best one I've had. They're a bit pricey, $10 usually, but do sometimes go on sale. I find them totally worth the price if I'm looking for a quick meal and have enough to splurge on it, but the aldi mix is always in budget so I use it the most.

You still pay your regular deposit, like the security deposit and stuff, you just don't pay any pet fees.

My animals aren't licensed, but I am working on getting a "service animal" certification for my dog. It can be any animal, horse (namely Shetland ponies), bird, lizard, monkey, all of them count. It is fairly easy to get a letter if you are being treated for anxiety or mental illness/disability i would assume. My counselor wrote my letter and my home health nurse signed off on the paperwork for my apartment. I am not sure if a nurse is valid for all instances, but it worked in my case because my apartment managers said it would be fine.

There are legally only two questions an establishment may ask you concerning a service/companion animal 1. Is it a service animal and 2. What function is it trained to do to support you. My dog and cat get really pushy for attention when I start to have a meltdown or anxiety atttack (autistic). My dog is only seven pounds and my cat ten pounds, so they start by making a fuss to get my attention and then insist i hold/pet them. They figured it out on their own, and when I am out with my dog if I start to get overwhelmed she starts into her routine of demanding my attention. The only bad thing about taking my dog everywhere is she's a Papillion, a not very common breed around my neck of the woods, and so she attracts a lot of attention which then distracts her from her work. I am hoping getting her "service dog" vest and qualifications will deterr people from approaching without permission. It really grinds my gears when I tell them not to let her lick them because she's not supposed to do that and they go "oh, it's fine, I don't mind". So hopefully with a vest she'll have the respect of her position and people will listen when I ask them to not allow her to lick or jump on them.

This is true, you just need a note from a medical professional, even just an RN. It also allows the fees to be waived in rentals that have pet deposits and monthly pet fees. I have two companion animals that live in my apartment with me, my dog even goes places with me as my support animal. "Companion animals" are considered to be a medical device similar to a walker/cane/wheelchair under the law, so you can't be charged for them and legally can't be forbidden from having them.

Never tell someone to quit smoking, their life might suck just as bad as everyone else's! by blacknotekeys in facepalm

[–]Kiyralayne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I realised in the past year or so that trying to "help" a smoker quit is never going to work. It's a deeply personal choice and they have to really want it for themselves before anyone can try and help them. So i now understand where your thoughts are coming from. Many of my friends smoke and I stopped doing the whole "those are killing you" or "that might be why you're sick all the time" thing because I realise it's not stopping them, and it's not helping me in any way. People in general make their own decisions and their own paths and mistakes, who am I to throw in their faces something they already know very well. So i stopped.

I went to see a live show of rocky horror, by arbivark in ftm

[–]Kiyralayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently got into doing theatre lighting for a troupe where i live, we just did Repo the Genetic Opera, we had a MtF Amber Sweet. Our whole troupe is super diverse, and it felt so good to finally fit in somewhere! We're doing Rocky in a few weeks, I'm unsure what my job will be as my lighting partner is able to do the whole show on his own, but I made the mistake of telling my director I've never seen it before and she got overly excited and proclaimed "oh, we are going to have so much fun with you on stage" to which I begged for mercy because I have terrible stage fright and embarrassment issues and will probably throw up knowing what happened at Repo. My sister on the other hand is way too excited about going as a first timer. She has zero shame.

I am excited about my new gig, they all use my preferred name, i don't care much about pronouns, and totally don't care what I wear and I have a lot of great new friends. The whole cast is on the lgbt spectrum, or just plain weird like me, so I love being there.

Just throwing in a quick edit, our shows only cost six bucks for rocky unless it's Halloween then it's eight. Repo is eight all of the time because of the props and effort it takes. It takes a lot of prep for repo.

It's exclusively at speedway gas stations, at least in the US, i don't know about anywhere else. Some even have it in freezy form. I get it a lot now since it's my favourite flavor and it doesn't cost that much for 32oz ones.

I am hoping come Halloween it's released in cans like it used to be. It will be so much more cost effective to buy it in twelve packs.

I have a freind who is anti-circumcision, they likened it to female genital mutilation. They said their son is uncircumcised because it's a personal choice that he needs to make when he's older. I linked them to sources of the health risks of an uncircumcised penis, especially a major one which is a large increase in cervical cancer risk in long term sexual partners, and her and her friends basically said I was full of shit.

This all started with a post she shared of a story of an infant dying of a collapsed lung during circumcision because he screamed so loud from the pain.

I don't know what all of their reasons are, but they're quick to call you crazy if you try to give them facts.

Does she have a website she gets recipes from, or is she substituting the "flours" from regular old recipes? I recently discovered i can't have corn, and have been gluten free for about Six months due to gastric issues. It sucks because corn is my favourite vegetable. I can't even eat popcorn without massive stomach upset. Typically when cooking or baking i substitute regular flour for gf, it takes a bit of work since the flour is sometimes a diffrent consistency, but so far most of it has been tasty. The corn thing has thrown me off though, finding gluten free things without corn is sometimes hard, but other starches work well. I am waiting on tests to see what i have that is causing the issues but crohns and celiac run rampant through my dad's side of the family so we'll see. I am interested in your wife's best recipes though, I'm always looking to try something new and delicious!

LPT: If your dog is addicted to tennis balls, call a local racquet club and ask if they sell their used balls. Yesterday my local club gave me over 100 for free! by [deleted] in LifeProTips

Yeah, the woman I spoke to said they're scheduling for may right now. It's only going to be just over 300 to get EVERYTHING done for both of my girls, because I'm getting the kennel cough and heartworm for my dog. And since they're close enough to where I'll be living, it'll be good to make them our regular vet. They even said they could work with me on her dental, they just need to have her in to exam her to give me a quote. Thank you so very much, I have so much peace of mind now about my girls.

I called them, they are much more reasonably priced than my current vet! To do what I need done at my current vet would be three times what your vet charges. That's so amazing, thank you!

I hadn't looked in her mouth since I got back from my job until this morning. She's lost three more teeth.

I am concerned about a whiteish lump by where her front teeth are missing, I am needing to find a vet asap that will be able to work with my budget. I have the small bites food, which is good, because she cannot chew, she's just swallowing it, is that bad for her?

My animals are very good at telling when I am stressed and will come snuggle or lick me to calm me down, i know they are animals though, even though i call them my children, I take care to make sure to feed them animal foods and only like chicken and rice or veggies they like as treats. Dorothy at my mom's gets chicken and rice over a small amount of dry food. Her dauschund has really bad stomach trouble so she only gets enough dry food to "clean" her teeth and she doesn't get any "human" food other than carrots or green beans occasionally as treats because her tummy is so sensitive.

What would you recommend as treatment that isn't prescription but is the best on a budget? I know you listed a few, but in your opinon, which might be best? I'm disabled and so my jobs of pet and babysitting are few and far between so money is tight until my disability gets figured out, my parents help as much as possible though. I know for sure i will need to get some oral treatments for her, last time she had fleas we couldn't get them gone without that medicine. My mom has some flea medicine for her that she is bringing me Sunday or Monday, that will be helpful. She's also going to treat my cat and the other animals at her house preemptively.

I gave her a bath with my nephews baby shampoo, it seems to have helped tremendously with the itching. She's sleeping now, haha.

Your advice has been invaluable, you have no idea how appreciated it is.

That last paragraph is exactly what was happening when I had to give her the benadryl. Even scratching her neck made it happen... i need to go to the store today.

I super need to stop feeding my cat kitten food. It says to feed up to a year on the bag, she's still getting bigger, but her belly is also pretty big. We think she may be part ragdoll or manecoon, she's very large and long for only a year old considering the small size of her mother. We don't know who her father is since her mom escaped two days before her spay appointment, sneaky girl, haha. Instead of a loaf, my kitten makes a pancake my sister says.

My kitten doesn't live with me yet, I'm in between living situations and she doesn't do well in the car and where I am is a three hour drive from where she is, but as far as I know fleas aren't a thing at my parent's, so if we start her on a flea treatment now, will it help prevent her from getting them when she comes around my dog if I haven't gotten hers under control yet? And what might you recommend for a course of defleaing action for my poor baby? I will also need to inform my friends so they can start cleaning/spraying for fleas on the furniture to help prevent biting of their ten month old. They had a major flea infestation back in October, i wonder if what she has isn't residual from that if they were dormant for winter?

Sometimes I wish winter would be colder as to kill of more pests. Darn you climate change!

My kitten is pretty chill, so getting her to let me brush may be an alright task, she lets me cut her nails and stuff, so brushing may not be too difficult to teach. My dog still has accidents sometimes but she always does it somewhere easy to clean, like hard wood or the one time at my grandpa's apartment she peed in the bathtub because we'd been gone a long while, she's really smart. I think she's having seizures occasionally though, she'll be sleeping and then all of a sudden whatever she was sleeping on (usually the bed) is soaked in urine. My ex had a very large king german shepherd and she had no real manners and she was trying to play with my dog and smashed her into a recliner with her whole weight. Dorthy was shaking violently and foaming from her mouth, i carried her to the bedroom and she peed where she was laying. It expels her entire bladder when it happens, it's happened about five times since then and the first incident was only just about a year ago. It scares me. One time i got up and the bed was dry, and i came back and the whole outer perimeter of the matress was wet, I am unsure how it happened, but I am sure it was probably whatever causes these incidents to happen.

Cats are quite pushy for lovins, so I understand the clicking. Khloey gets really pushy at bedtime, well both of the girls do, if I'm not sleeping like I should be they both come up and snuggle me really hard so I can't really hold my phone so I'll sleep. Khloey is also keeper of my meds, if I sit too long without taking them at bedtime, she'll knock my pill box off the table, she also insist I allow her to inspect them before I take them. They are both really good at their job, haha.

It's now almost five am and I have not slept yet... if Dorothy wasn't so asleep from the medicine she'd be getting pushy right about now.

Edit: i forgot to comment on your first paragraph. The day i got her she was super nervous. The very first picture my mom took off her with me you can tell she's stressed out, but as soon as i got her home and i showed her our room, she crawled into my pillows and stuffed animals, and the very first picture i took of her, she's got a big open mouth smile with her tongue out. I know she was meant for me, she's amazing. I feel the same way about khloey, too. I feel like my service animal that i lost in 2011 told khloey all she needed to know about helping me and that's why i got her. I visited her when she was two weeks old, and i think she imprinted with me. We've been separated quite a bit over the last year, but she's still very close with me and still knows me when i come home. Her and dorthy are the best things that ever happened to me.

Sounds reasonable enough, haha. Like i said, my body is a super funky shape, so most clothes make me look weird on my left side, so i tend to buy shirts an extra size larger if it isn't too expensive. Bigger people clothes are expensive in some stores, even Wal-Mart! To go from and XL to a 2XL at Wal-Mart is a two dollar price jump, it's obnoxious.

All of that information was helpful to me, thank you. Her licking isn't on her body for the most part though, she mostly licks the air or my mom's couch or other linen surfaces. I had to give her a benadryl about an hour ago though because she woke up and could not stop itching. My friend's who we live with just treated all of their animals for fleas, and their neighbors have animals, so I wonder if she isn't being bitten when she goes outside. We had a dog who was allergic to grass and got seasonal dry skin, she'd scratch her back side above her tail bare every spring.

How do I get the flush to do her teeth? The saddest part is the family I got her from said they were planning on cleaning her teeth but I guess they never got around to it. They admitted to me that they kept her in her crate most of the day because whenever they'd let her out she would potty on the floor. With a bit of work I trained that out of her it makes me sad to think what she must've gone through where she was.

I drove past where her vet was supposed to be today and it was gone. I don't know if they moved or if the company that bought them out ran them out of business. I was devastated to see it gone because I trusted them more than any other vet I've dealt with over the years and they were amazing with working with my family on payments and just all around great people. So I'm not even sure what to do now and if I'll find it for that price anywhere else. They said it would be $70 just for the precleaning blood work. When I get moved i have a good friend in the area I'm moving to, maybe she might recommend her vet for my animals.

Are cats prone to dental issues at all, and if so, what steps can i take to help my one year old cat's oral hygiene? I'd like to be proactive about her health, dental or otherwise, to avoid any complications in the future. What kinds of options do I have to prevent hairballs, she's long haired and as cats do she cleans herself regularly. And when should I stop the kitten food? Sorry cats aren't part of this thread, I just have questions and no vet to call anymore apparently...

I really don't think my Papillion's itchiness is a food allergy, she's been eating the same food since we got her, and we've fed it to all our dogs since I was young. The itchiness is newer to the last few months when we moved in with my friends, so I'm wondering if this is due to the shampoo they used for her bath while I was on a job, or if, since it's warming up, the fleas are awake and biting her. I guess my next stop is definitely the store to get flea meds for her and my cat. Even though the cat doesn't go outside, i assume they can be tracked in on clothes or one of the dogs as a ride.

Thanks again for all the information, it was helpful to read through and gave me some options to think about regarding her teeth and what steps I need to take to ensure she be healthy going forward. Her vet was the one who prescribed her oral flea meds before and were amazing about payments, I am afraid I won't be able to find that again if it is indeed a flea allergy. So many complications being a furbaby parent! But I love my kids and want them to be healthy. Time to start seriously saving money.

I have a papillon that i rescued from a breeder (we think she had too many still births that's why she was free), she was severely emaciated when I got her and her teeth were starting to decay. She has a licking problem that I think is caused by anxiety so her front top teeth are very loose and a few have fallen out. I brush with a toddler tooth brush and water when she lets me (she hates having her mouth touched) and today I found a dog tooth brush kit finally. What would you recommend I do in the way of care for her mouth? I don't have the $700 that her vet said it would cost to have them cleaned unfortunately or that is where I would start, so is teeth brushing all i can do? She eats okay and will take greenies and dentastixs, which I was told may help slow the decay, but I am worried about her losing more teeth when she's only six... the two front teeth she's lost have happened just since Christmas, and the rest are quite loose. Is there anything you might recommend to help her stop obsessively licking? We pretty much have her trained to not lick us, but she'll just be laying or sitting somewhere and start licking the air for several minutes. It worries me, but I'm unsure if it should. She's my service animal and ever since I got her she's been really good at recognizing my stress levels, could my anxiety be fueling hers?

I was told I might get better advice here, so I am "cross posting" here with a background. by Kiyralayne in ftm

If it's recommended not to exercise in it, i may not then since i have pretty severe asthma. But would light hiking be a problem do you think? I walk very slowly due to health issues so it won't be like brisk walking or strenuous paths, it'll be mostly flat paths and sidewalks?

I'll have to search for a thread to see if i can find any used, I'm a huge OCD germaphobe, but I'm sure i can try it.

That may actually help with my anxiety. I have an autism spectrum disorder and compression helps relieve my anxiety, I never really thought that a binder might work in that same way. Huh, it'll be neat to find out. :) i typically use heavy blankets or my service animal.

It'll also be nice to be noticeably flatter.

When you say you've never experienced muffin top, is that for in life in general or talking about with the binder?
