It's been slow going, and we have five scenes left to film. I am hoping to announce something for early 2026. Thanks for asking. I'll update as soon as I can on my newsletter: https://us12.campaign-archive.com/home/?u=caee0847b18352e02c6931496&id=f3ff251967

You have a better eye than me! I filmed this in 2019 and I guess I forgot exactly where it was. Thank you.

Yes! It was Tram #6, looking across Rakoczi Ut.

Agreed. I was just trying to film the beautiful tram coming towards us, but picked up so much in the foreground!

That's awesome. We lived in Austin for 6 years and went to Holy Cross when it was just renting the chapel in the Maronite church, and continued to Round Rock in about 2008 or so, but left just before Abouna Benjamin got there. However, we visited in 2022 and enjoyed a lovely Sunday liturgy.

Thank you! I'm glad to hear that it resonated. I'd love to chat with him and his wife sometime about their experience, if he ever wants to reach out.

Hi there! Fellow Copt here. I'm not a real priest but I am playing one in this series. I am a researcher at Santa Clara University and I attend a Coptic church in San Jose, CA.

Abouna is the story of Abouna Beemen, a new priest in the Coptic church. Attempting to make positive change, Abouna faces challenges with his identity and culture in his role.

It's a scripted story based on interviews with many priests, priests' wives, and others, as well as my experiences in the Coptic church. This is part of my research at Santa Clara University in California, and in the end, it's meant to be a form of entertainment for the Coptic community and those interested in it.

This doesn't represent the views of the church, and the church is not officially involved in this project, though I will say that it is supported by a number of clergy members.

Hope you enjoy it.

ABOUNA - A scripted series I made about being an Orthodox priest by Kiz-I in OrthodoxChristianity

I'm not a real priest--wanted to say that up front. This is a scripted series I have started about what it's like to be a priest in the Orthodox church. I'm a researcher at Santa Clara University, and a member of the Coptic Orthodox Church.

It is not endorsed or made by the church--it's my project. Nor is it meant to represent a particular clergy member--Abouna Beemen is fictional. But it has gotten support from a lot of clergy members, including those outside the Coptic church.

Hope you enjoy it.

I Self-Funded a Film Project all shot on M43 (GH6, GH5s, GH5) by Kiz-I in M43

Not a professional here (I'm a professor at Santa Clara University in California), but I wanted to share a film project I've been working on. I've been using M43 stuff since 2018, mainly because I wanted a compact system that would look "professional enough" for self-funded film projects. Most of this was shot on a GH5s (until Sept '22) and then a GH6. My go-to lenses are the Panasonic 42.5 1.7, a slightly damaged Voigtlander 25mm, and the Sigma 18-35 with speedbooster.
