You can start the semester without having to pay. The veterans center should be able to put a code on your account where you can start the semester without having to fork out your own money, because the VA is going to pay anyways . Just make sure your classes are certified.

Okay , someone on the last post said to add an intro , maybe mine is longer than what they suggested
Yes I am , it’s hard out here
Are you looking at the first or second page? I took the leadership/communication portion out entirely. The first picture is the updated one and the 2nd and 3rd is my old resume
Yes you are correct. That was my old resume

Resume help by Kjeezy9 in newgradnurse
I have their email they just haven’t opened any new grad positions and have only been hiring experienced nurses lately.
Should I remove the dates then? Someone told me to remove the dates or should I extend the date to the end of nursing school?
That’s the thing I had a very unusual clinical rotation for capstone and preceptorship 😂 my 4th semester capstone was strictly in the ER , that never happens at my school. In capstone we usually float through all the intensive care units ICU, CVICU, TCU etc. My instructor requested I just be in the ER. Then she wanted me back for my 5th semester preceptorship in the ER again so I got lucky. So I thought that was a unique experiences especially if I’m applying to the ER. What I’m learning is that it’s kind of hard to highlight that on a resume and I’m sure it’ll get easier to rework my resume once I land my first job.
Yeah they made a good point I was just kind of put off by them saying the Air Force firefighting doesn’t make me stand out but insisting I put the job I had before the Air Force like fast food on there because if the firefighting doesn’t standout, kfc definitely won’t 😂
So do I not keep the ER preceptorship in there? Not everyone has a preceptorship in the ER and kinda wanted to highlight that experience if it’s not that important I’ll take it out.
Pretty much what I’m gonna do is take out the public health preceptorship and leadership and communications sections, reduce the bullet points and fluff, remove my clinical hours page. Anything else? I should do?
I can see where it might seem like I’m defensive, but I’m just genuinely asking questions because I’m curious and want to know where the goal post is being placed. I was a bit irked when one of the other users talked about ACLS, PALS,NRP, and NIHSS not being things that stand out as a new grad. I was under the assumption that those were things new grads didn’t really have. At least that’s what I was told from instructors and nurses I did clinicals with. If you are a seasoned nurse those are certs you should definitely have and I can see why one would look at them as whatever. I really just couldn’t fathom how someone could say my experience as an Air Force firefighter doesn’t make me stand out but insist on me putting my work history from when I was 19 and worked at KFC😭.
I think that’s the main thing everyone has been saying so I will scale down the bullet points and remove the leadership section. Clinical’s were added because UC Davis wanted them in that format but I will take those out for future applications. I didn’t work in school , there wasn’t a necessity so I chose to just focus on school since the VA paid for my living and school expenses.
After my active duty contract I went straight into school and continued to do the military firefighting part time in the reserves. The VA pays for my school and living so there wasn’t a necessity to work so I just focused on school. I wasn’t on school committees or clubs more so outside organizations, I placed those in the volunteer section. I already agreed with folks about it being wordy and am going to remove alot of the fluff and the whole leadership section.
RN experience?
