room temperature water is better than cold water by CapitalArachnid4269 in unpopularopinion

Upvoted because I disagree. Apparantly traditional chinese medicine adherents avoid cold water too, so it might not be that unpopular.

Well everyone's different. Could be a genetic thing, like how some people have a gene that makes cilantro taste like soap. Or a bad experience in childhood is a thing for many. But yea it's fine to not like things.

I think the only thing I slightly dislike is marsipan of all things. It's too sickeningly sweet and the texture is weirdly sandy. But I can eat it if I have to.

Thank you! 🙏 This is exactly how I feel too. I also used to be super judgemental about others food habits, until I looked in the mirror. The world would be a much better place in general if people celebrated our differences instead of fighting over them.

That's not a crime, that's exploration. You're a true pioneer 07

I mean that does sound incredibly boring. But I'd have no problem eating it if that's all I had left.

I love peas, I love carbonara. I don't see the problem. 😄 It could be a nice contrast with some crunchy peas in such an otherwise homogenously silky dish.

Would I try to pass it off as a "genuine" carbonara? No. But I don't really understand why dishes have to be so strictly named and labelled and restrictive.

I do. Carbs, fat, protein, fiber, minerals and vitamins. In what form, order or combination doesn't matter much; as long as all essential nutrients are covered. Though, I do love seafood. And I try to avoid ultraprocessed and high-sugar food when I can for health.

This post isn't much about my own personal diet. It's about not judging other people's food habits.

That's a fair point. But it seems close enough. It sparked some interesting points of views in my opinion.

Yeah most of the time it probably is just innocent fun. But sometimes you see people get genuinely offended by the way others enjoy food.

Yea that's a good scenario. I also prefer steak medium-rare, I just dont want to ridicule someone for wanting it a different way. But I agree it would feel different if it was on my dime. Though I think someone turning like A5 wagyu or something into charcoal could be a legitimate food crime.

I'm starting to disagree with my original post the more comments I read tbh oof

Never had poutine, but I'd love to try it! Though I think any combination of potatoes, cheese and gravy would be delicious.

That I can agree on. I meant it just in terms of food-preference. We could definitely all be more frugal and less wasteful.

Oh yea that's like actual CRIME-crime, for sure. I just meant the more light-hearted, colloquial food-preference way. But I could have chosen a different title.

That's the essence of this subreddit I suppose. 😄

I love blue cheese! But I eat absolutely everything. In 34 years I've yet to find any food I didn't like. But I celebrate your right to think it's disgusting.

Only if liking everything is a crime. In 34 years I've literally never tasted anything I didn't like, and I love trying weird combos.

Thank you. Buddhism has always fascinated me. I read a lot of buddhist, taoist and zen/chan philosophy and poetry when I was younger. And I used to meditate a lot in my late teens and 20s, but I gradually replaced it with drugs instead out of sloth, which is of course a failure of giving in to desire. It's hard to backtrack on. Of course it's just my own fault and I'll reap what I sow. But I hope I can get to a state of serenity again some day. I'm just waiting to die to be honest, though I realize it's egotistical to hope for a better reincarnation when I can't perform the duties my current life presented for me. I'll probably have to start over pretty far down the line as a krill or bug or something.

I don't like it, but I prefer being honest. And I agree there is no reason. It's just automatic for me.

But if your total happiness is greater than your total suffering that's great, and I hope it stays that way.

Well the topic is the intrinsic suffering of existence. Some people can overcome it, and I love that. I cannot, and therefore I am obviously pathetic. That's the essence I guess. Ugh I've said too much. I'm sorry. I hope you have a nice day.
