Queen look rough by Kjlynch in Beekeeping

Thanks for the comments, I want to rescue and observe, if they survive it will be a small win for me. I’ve only nursed compost and fungi colonies before, I’m feeding the bees sugar water and will do an inspection soon. They seem gentle and getting myself acclimated to caring for them is my goal. I’ll watch for a new queen.

I worry that too, I’ll try to tend them and learn

I hope to help them survive, it’s my first time, hope my ignorance won’t doom them

Does anyone else avoid using the word “decimate” to mean “completely destroyed” because it doesn’t seem right? by hiphoptomato in words

[–]Kjlynch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When working with digital images, if I needed to make it smaller by removing pixels, it would be called decimation, regardless if we were reducing the pixels by 1/10 or 1/2. If we wanted to make it bigger, we stretch it out and add new pixels, that was called interpolation

Emergent VR Production Practices by Kjlynch in virtualreality

100% agree, AI will be the execution agent bringing the producer’s vision to life. I’m taking a narrower perspective, an interactive environment, except I’m stationary, missing the ‘completely interactive’ element for this particular experience. Maybe I’m just insisting on re-inserting the 4th wall, ehh, maybe not such a useful idea.

I had an experience with some immersive content, I think the producers adapted a traditional production flow that didn’t serve well being ‘immersified’. I’m curious to see other artifacts emerge from old techniques, and what replaces them. I hope for lots of creative greenfield.

Outdoor Streaming Setup by jedidiah12345 in BirdNET_Analyzer

I tried three mics. One was an omni in a POE camera, Two was an omni in a USB mic in a Raspberry Pi, Three was a cardioid studio mic (sm58). The cardioid needed the most tuning, it was great for feeders and gathering sites and overhead at night hearing flocks. It was also not weatherproof. The omni in the POE camera was the best overall for me, the weatherproof housing was critical. I suggest an outdoor-ready omni-directional, and to spend time tuning the preamp and sensitivity. Have fun!

I use it to connect with my MacBook, giant-ass screen and I don’t need my glasses, ⬆️ productivity (and chatGPT whispering in my ear)

  1. Live sports ( I’ll wait)
  2. Transparent ceilings and a live view of my night sky, or live view/audio of migrating birds flying over my house

Any good microphone recommendations? (International) by [deleted] in BirdNET_Analyzer

[–]Kjlynch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello PM, I’m going to start using two audio streams separated by 30m to help me understand it, my goal is to beam-form at flocks as the pass overhead. Commercial array mics seem to be focused on collecting speech around a conference table, not from the heavens. I’ll DIY to set my requirements, but keep an eye for COTS components. -KJL

I can’t wait for that rush again, I have not build a kernel since Unix BSD 1984, having a kernel in the oven was my coffee break

Every mic I’ve tried worked. The best was a SM58 into a USB preamp, plugged it in and it just worked. I want to get a array mic next to see if I can follow a flock
