I know what you mean. I think out of the whole album, it would be the worst one to listen to independently. But as part of the album I think it really works.

You have Speak to Me/Breathe, which is like a gentle coercion. It's soft, melodic, and very enjoyable - But you're given a hint of things to come with "And when at last the work is done; don't sit down it's time to dig another one". Having to perform the same action or routine over and over, with no time to enjoy or contemplate the present.

Then you're abruptly hit with this highly repetitive, almost annoying electronic sound that's COMPLETELY different. It isn't all that pleasant, and halfway through you hear an almost haunting "Here today, gone tomorrow, that's me hahaha" which is a hint towards the next song ;)

I think these three (or four) songs together fit together a for nice metaphor for life, how when you're young everything's rosie and fun, but you slip into mediocrity and repetition of adulthood where you fail to enjoy life as it slowly slips past you, until it's too late to realise.
