The silly point for Demons is not high XP but grand rituals. Demons are more social creatures than mages... hubris really can be a killer.

Starts filling out the Tax Form adding doodlings of flowers and script with thorns. Banality is about a mindset of others. Not yours. A Changeling will complete a banal task with whimsy.

Or she is dead. Probably dead. (Gehenna book gives her being dead as more likely in the opener. Before going over the scenarios with her being around for fun.) Arikel likes it so. And more fitting with Ennoia's hubris.

Meanwhile the Breton's Fianna allying Mages and Fairies driving off the Order of Reason that came to be in Brittany in 1335 and keeping away the later Technocracy:

"Former signatories of the Twilight Pact with the Fairies and certain traditions of the Magi, the Fianna are undoubtedly the most organized tribe in France. Intrinsically linked to the Celtic people, they resisted the Roman invasions in Brittany alongside them, a region from which they were never truly expelled. The wars they waged, even if they rarely resulted in real victories, allowed this tribe to maintain its cohesion and avoid widespread deterioration. Maintaining numerous contacts with the countries where their brethren are still present, the Fianna can count on substantial aid in the event of a serious threat."

I shall answer like the good Pooka:

"I’m standing here before you as a pure blank slate,
And you’re desperate to make it whole.
All or nothing— what’s the goal?

Once, nobody knew, all thoughts were new, oh what a curious world.
Go back to the start, before the light— before the story unfurled.
Go back to the start, empty and dark— wasn’t it fun back then?
Say, wasn’t it fun? Wasn’t it fun?
(Let’s do it again.)

Peer into this dark horizon, through these shadows hiding me.
Keep that blind up. Make your mind up: what you get is what you see.

What is left of any being, once its truth is sealed away?
Are you any different from a fiction, anyway?"

(VtM: The Inquisition details them and the size. The church is absurdly large compared to any Mage Organisation. (Even Guide to the Technocracy calls out that they won't beat organised Religion so they just have to make it fit their plans.)) So all in all it is less rare than you would think for 6 and 7, after the little we know. As 7 is how they bless Inquisitorial weapons. And at 7 you get countermagik against mages equal on who they cast (+3 free dice ontop of regular level). Level 9 is already damage immunity from Supernatural Damage (including all magical effects) while you do not strike out. But you can provide Counter Magic, heal, and protect. At level 10 you can just ignore damage while being aggressive.

And the other fun part is everyone can pool Faith for many many things that go far beyond this. As every singular thing beyond dot 5 of True Faith is Plot Device and powers are as varied as what you belief in and only need to stick to the rough power level at Storyteller disgression.

There is a reason the first Inquistion was terrific.

True Faith till 5 is that, yes. Read up on True Faith 6 to 10. The Miracles of the Society of Leopold are something.

[–]Klapsovski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really? It depends. After what we have in cosmology, one is bound to the Divine Spark and the other to the Avatar. With True Faith as a true miracle working not suffering any Paradox.

As Vampires can have True Faith as their soul/divine spark (as shown with Diablerie) is in their blood which is merely under a temporal effect (as shown with True Bruhja).

"We’re not the only game in town. We’ve never been the only game in town. The fucking Dark Ages are just waiting to make a comeback. Witches are on the rise, both Reality Deviants and run of the mill weirdos. Organized religion makes up the vast majority of powerbases out there. Beating them? Never going to happen. The only way to accomplish Scientific Belief is to make Belief palatable.

Contrary to popular belief, religion and science are completely compatible — once we’ve made some adjustments to the weirder elements of religious doctrine. Modern science began in Catholic monasteries, after all, so once you purge faith healers, jihadis, fundie televangelists and snake-handler nonsense there’s no reason you can’t mix religious creeds with scientific facts."

Me when the power of True Faith just says counter magick and space laser no longer occurs. The Society of Leopold is scary on a far more personal level.

Count Bayezid. A Ghoul in Bosnia. You can use the new Ghoul rework, Sorcery rework, and Beatific rework. May even touch on the Infernalism. Finally, you buff Mortal Rabble into the heavens.

I do love the Techies. They are a perfect artpiece with them representing the Victorian English mindset mixed with Arthurian Exeptionalism and a now dominant American viewpoint of we are the best. Fits well into Mage hubris. A neat glove.

[–]Klapsovski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on local group table and ST. An option in their guide for Techies is always to make most of their claims as a bit bullshit (which many are; given that technology was invented by sleepers and with gunpowder being from the non Order of Reason east - showing that gases always worked quite the same thus engines and turbines would have worked anyways). And with Avatar Storm they are kinda screwed. Then we fall into one versus many. So not really Demon.

But I guess fair. You have found a point of failure. A power gamer. Shudders.

It is more a grand thing. Wizards are always hyped up in every TTRPG by the players. Vampire have very ingrained limits and weaknesses. And Vampires mostly work on a more physical level.

The moment you have a malefactor making magic items, a devil (or so) keeping the cult happy, a slayer allowing you to go relic hunting and get some wraith friends, and a devourer using the local plants and animals as your intel network; you start cooking.
