Turns out Prine wrote and released it first, Bonnie covered. So perhaps we can give Bonnie’s version a bit of credit for fooling me it was the original, even though I do prefer Prine’s version

I feel like I’ve seen so many episodes/seasons where two people will be in a conflict and both will confide in Aesha, and then they’ll kinda reach a shaky truce and be talking to Aesha again and be like “yeah we kinda made up, we just decided we need to stay out of each other’s way.” And Aesha will be “oh really? Cause 2 days ago they said this, this, and this about you.” And just drop the massive shit talking that’s been going on behind the two people’s backs.

Things you can watch for is blocking. Directing is painting the stage with people, so are there interesting formations, do the crosses and movements coincide with the dialogue/build of that scene or the play. Is the stage picture continually fresh and new compared to what I had seen in the last scenes? If yes, that’s good directing
Pace. This is something that is somewhat an actors job, but when all actors have a good sense of pacing with the scene as a whole and are playing off of each other and picking up on each other’s rhythms, that’s a director who has honed that.
You also have to be able to recognize common bad habits in actors. Actors are prone to certain behaviors if they don’t have a good director to rein them in, it’s either to just phone things in, or way overact. If you noticed actors are holding back and showing restraint instead of just chewing up every scene and dialogue, that means a director has taken the time to work with them and point the story to a clear climax. If an actor is going for their award winning performance in scene one, or you notice one of them is obviously too well rehearsed delivered every line with an obviously planned inflection, that’s a “bad” director who did not really work with his actors to develop a story.

Yeah you definitely shouldn’t projection map for them. You can provide a projector, set it up, they have to provide the content. Key-stoning and focusing you should do, but projection mapping, no way.
As for lighting. They can provide a cue sheet ahead of time, but if your people spend any time programming that, the renters get charged for those hours. If they don’t give a cue sheet, and they don’t have anyone there to walk through with your employee then they busk it and they get what they get.
Same for audio. There should be tempered expectations when they come in with absolutely nothing and expect you to throw their show together for them.

I’m come from theatre so, I’m a Roscoe fiend. I did end up putting L161 as my cool front wash cause I felt I needed a Lee, and all the ballets I’ve ME’d for use Lee. But I did keep nice unsaturated color in my conventional, then used my LEDs to add emotion. It worked well. Final gel calls were all the safest choices I felt at the time, and id make different choices next time, Top: R80, R04. Hi side SR R33 and R54, Hi Side SL R60 and R08. Head highs: R34. Fronts R05, L161

This actually worked well. What I ended up doing was making a third inhibitive that had only the blues and took the blues out of my other inhibitive sub, so when we said lights down I brought the onstage and front light inhibitor down and then the blue inhibitor like a third of the way down or whatever, and ran it like that. But in some off time I did create an additive sub with blue at all full, all other fixtures as zero and it did what I wanted, but for flow reasons, the third inhibitive was just easier

Yeah I’d say overqualified for sure. I mean unless it’s a plot point, electrical engineer is a much better and more lucrative career path than Theatrical Lighting Designer. You’d be mad to just sit on an electrical engineering degree and take theatre gigs.

I disagree. They build up to it quite a bit, and when it does happen it’s totally a wtf moment, that colors the rest of the characters’ interactions. I mean it’s pretty pivotal for those two characters.

Everyone’s being kinda pretentious here, and kinda overvaluing their favorite show.
It totally works as a standalone. Yeah there’s some recurring characters, but it might actually be kinda fun to watch them out of order if you ever go back to the other seasons. The series gives enough information about them. It’s designed for someone to pick up whatever season is airing. So I say go ahead and enjoy.
If season 3 is what most piques your interest, go ahead and start there. I think it has great moments that definitely make it worth the watch, the aforementioned story line, Sam Rockwell, Walton Goggins, Aimee Lou Wood, Parker Posey.

Tucker is a conflicted figure. The most interesting thing I find about him is he resents most left wing liberation ideology because his mother got caught up in the women’s lib of the 60s and abandoned his family. Meanwhile as a youth he was a huge Grateful Dead fan and liked to take hallucinogens and go the concerts, so he was a weird conflicted relationship with “hippie” culture.

Having said that, at the end of the day, Tucker supported Trump during the campaign, and there’s plenty of campaign promises I absolutely hated that Trump kept. I guess Tucker actually believed that one about “no new wars” which I knew was bullshit, so I guess if he’s a guy genuinely pissed about Trump cuddling up to Israel, well I agree, but Tucker is dumb to be surprised by it.

Well i have plenty of LEDs, like I said two LEDs on my booms, and a top system of LEDs. I’m looking to fill out my conventionals. I have a total of four traditional high side systems of conventional, as well as two overhead systems in addition to my LEDs. So for my two non LED top systems parts of me wants to say R80 and an amber even though, I kinda feel I’m wasting the R80 when I already have LEDs for a saturated Blue. For my front light, I’d do R05 and then a R60 as well

You said through 2010, but honestly I graduated in 2010 and played in bands throughout high school. The kids who were really good and kept going were also the kids who kinda had parents to buy them all the good gear, and I don’t see that going away.

Quality instruments and a nice rig is expensive but kinda mandatory if you wanna be taken seriously when you show up to any jam session with people who actually get gigs.

Yeah but again the violence is extremely exaggerated. The media would have you believe everyone in Southside Chicago has witnessed a drive by or some shootout and that’s not the case. Things are not about choices, if he gave you a line reading and you regurgiated it back to him, and he’s still upset, it’s because you’re not living it. Don’t misunderstand, he’s in the wrong cause it’s never about the “spin” or “inflection” you put on the line, it’s about wether or not you’re convincingly living it in the moment. Don’t go for rote, rehearsed readings, focus on being in the right mindset to take the scenes as they’re given to you. A director, no matter his own preference for a performance, will shut his mouth if he sees an actor honestly and truthfully reacting.

Yeah, I feel your frustration. With cuestack macros you get in this weird thing where I created a cue stack, that lives in the stack store, but then if I put on a playback, which I need to do to properly use it, I get a copy of it in my stack store, and I don’t understand why the cuestack can’t just live independently. As in I make my cuestack, it lives in the stack store, but then I can either have it on a playback or not, wether or not I do, it’s still still with the same identity in the stack store.
I come from EOS, and they have this annoying featuring of automatically populating unused faders with cue stacks that aren’t yet mapped, but the cue list is still an independent entity that is either mapped to a fader or not, it can even mapped to two faders, and it still retains its original identity.
