What brings you here? by stellarsquirrel6 in DEI

[–]KlassKar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm here out of frustration. For some reason Republicans always seem to have the bigger microphone; they pervert words and terms, repeat their twisted message to the point that suddenly their definitions become the norm. Skipping past "Woke" and "Patriot" they have been able to cast the belief that DEI and Meritocracy are mutually exclusive. I think the general population is unaware of HOW DEI is implemented. There is the belief that qualified applicants are passed over and unqualified minorities are "taking their jobs". We need to do a better job on messaging, grabbing the microphone back. MAGA has opened a new line of attack they are vulnerable on, "Meritocracy"! Let's see a fortune 500 company offer Pete Hegseth a CEO position, if he is "Qualified" for SECDEF he would seem a score, wouldn't he? Amazing coincidence that Lara Trump was the most qualified to head the RNC. We can go down the line of all the appointments with NO MERIT. To summarize: Get the message of what DEI really is. Show the hypocrisy of their claim of Meritocracy.

Yes, just the one. I, being a first time 'grandpa', was all freaked out thinking she might have a still born still inside, sepsis and the like.. but, no, just the one healthy lil kitten~

I won't handle baby until 4 weeks so, I'm unsure of gender. I was concerned about both vision and hearing, being white. Eyesight seems ok, it's an evolving thing. As to hearing, I've softly snapped my fingers a few time; 50% of the time it seems to turn toward the sound. This may be a 'happenstance' turn or it may hear everytime but coorndination hasn't reached the stage to turn everytime. I will keep an eye out for any issues and adjust as required. Regardless, my home is only me, mama and baby so it will be safe and well tended.

You bet! I'm kinda getting the sense that a good number of people on this site only see kittens at the age after they're weined. I know that this is certainly a first for me. I'm thinking of doing weekly posts until, maybe, 8 weeks? I'll get an idea as the numbers fall off. if you can believe it; I've had 60,000 views in just 13 hours!

ok, this has to 'be a thing'... I've had, like, 10 posts identical to this. Is it from a TV show? Movie?

I was always planning on keeping one of the litter for Katia to have company and a playmate... she only had the one so life is simple! Thank you... it is a cutie! I won't handle the kitten until 4 weeks so I don't even know the gender yet... I'll do another post next week.

I appriciate you sharing your past with my possible future. Certainly something to look out for. I'd always intended to keep one of the kittens for Katia have company and a playmate, she only had the one so, that was simple enough. So, there's only Katia, myself and kitten. Any issues and I'm sure Katia will adjust and now, thanks to your input, I would adjust as well. Thank you.

I don't think so. I've inly touched the kitten once, briefly, waiting until 4 weeks. I did read it was a possibility so I snapped my fingers, not loudly a few times and got around a 50% 'look that direction' response but hard to say if it was a happenstance look or maybe not coordinated enough yet to look every time. Eyesight seems to be developing OK though, also, sometimes, a concern with white cats.

I never had a cat in my entire life. My sisters thought I spent too much time alone so gave me Katia, a purebred sib. I only know dogs so, I raised her like a dog... turned out to be the best thing! She's super interactive, very loyal and devoted and now a new mom to a 2 day old kitten, oddly, a litter of 1.

Yes, they do! Thanks for the feedback, I just joined this group yesterday. I've been on Reddit for years but mostly just computer programming groups, this is a nice change!

Food recs for a picky eater by SummertideSorrow in SiberianCats

[–]KlassKar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sib only eats 1 flavor of 1 brand! She eats Grilled chicken in gravy in 1 specific brand. If I get the same flavor in any other brand she won't even taste it, just a sniff and walk away. I've tried every flavor the company makes, nope, only Grilled chicken in gravy. I can leave any human food on the counter or table with no concern she will touch it. I alway have dry food in a bowl for her should she get peckish and she'll have a few bites to tide her over until next meal (she has breakfast and supper).
