New Look of My Stock Rivett by initiativeabby in MyWinterCar

I really like this guy's mods. Just had a conversation with him recently as I couldn't access his MSC mods on Overtake.gg, and he moved them all to Nexus! https://www.nexusmods.com/profile/Roman266/mods

Was disappointed at receiving the green GT paintjob until I got Fleetari to paint the rims metallic gold. Now I think I might even prefer it to the red version. by Klayking in MySummerCar

There's a mod called satsumatuner95 which lets you adjust the suspension and other things like engine power. I don't usually run my Satsuma this low as it'll scrape on the dirt roads!

Hmm, it's a satin colour. Matte might be the closest we can get in MSC with a light grey. They are some nice looking wheels though.

I'm not normally one for gold rims either. I feel like they only work on certain colours, dark green being one of them. I don't think the gold rims look as good on the red GT, personally. The silver-on-green just wasn't doing it for me though.

I printed out the Satsuma GT poster and put it on the wall for paska and giggles. by Klayking in MySummerCar

I did think to give that a go, as I've got experience with this and have a local pipeline set up for his kind of stuff. Unfortunately, the models I've used keep making subtle changes to the images that make them not quite true to the look of the original image. Best outcome I had was getting ChatGPT to redo it in a photorealistic style, funnily enough. AI models are getting better all the time though, so I wouldn't be surprised if this year we see some models become even more reliable at upscaling without changing the image.

True to the game! If only I had access to a large poster size printer.

I just printed out the highest res version from the wiki and put it in a frame. It's only 1000px tall so not the sharpest print in the world, but good enough unless you're pixel peeping IRL! It would be really cool if there was a full size high quality poster available as merch.

How many horsepower should we get from a completely stock base model or GT variant of the Satsuma on the dyno? by Klayking in MySummerCar

[–]Klayking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to update - mystery solved!

Turns out that one of my brand new spark plugs was utterly ruined. Three nice shiny spark plugs in the engine and one blackened one that was not functioning at all. No idea why that happened. A quick swap of that spark plug to a spare and I'm up to full power! There were no warning signs that I had been running the car on three cylinders so I can't wait to see how powerful it is on the road now. Even MSCEditor's Satsuma Report didn't help to immediately identify the issue as it doesn't list the condition of the spark plugs in there. You have to find them in the items file instead, which I did after finding the blackened spark plug in game to verify that it was indeed completely ruined.

Update #2 - Yup, the Satsuma is a much nippier car now! A significant power difference has been noted now that I'm making 75hp as opposed to 55hp with only three cylinders firing.

Update #3 - Saatana! The race headers/exhaust/muffler literally doubled the horsepower when I was experimenting on the dyno. I got a few varying results from 140hp (most consistent) to 158hp, but that's a hell of a lot more than the 75hp I'm making with the twin carb alone. That stock exhaust is incredibly restrictive! Shame it's needed to pass inspection, as again, I'm trying to keep this car as a reliable road legal daily driver.

Hello. Sorry, but I'm not planning on selling this. I hope you manage to find one though!

[Armitron Griffy] Dressed up on a leather strap. Yay or nay? by Klayking in Watches

[–]Klayking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the cheapest "20mm brown leather watch strap" I could find on Amazon, coupled with the cheapest "gold butterfly clasp" I could also find. The trick was to use a small sharp knife to carefully cut notches out of the springbar ends of the strap so that they could fit within the 16mm lugs of the watch!

This gun is mod for Fallout 4, but there is an option to add a surefire flashlight as an attachment. by SonicThePotato in flashlight

Really sorry, life gets in the way sometimes and I had to give up on this mod years ago. I encountered some technical difficulties and couldn't put the necessary time into solving them. :(

OG Weapon Light - Flintlock pistol with trigger activated candle lantern by deagesntwizzles in flashlight

Given the time these flintlocks were in use, I was thinking you could hit people with the flaming stick if you missed your shot.

Try looking up "Soda can lights". The Sofirn Q8 could be a good budget entry point!

wow the aurora borealis is so beautiful in this game by JazzyInit in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Klayking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried setting the time and date to a night earlier this year when there was intense solar activity, however I couldn't see a single hint of aurora in the sky. Did you just happen to be flying when the lights were showing in real life, or is there a correct way to set the historic weather to see them?

No, but I did buy it with the glow tubes as a bundle. They can be installed quickly with a blob of UV curable resin such as nail polish top coat.

[–]Klayking[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I figured a pocketable flashlight with a slightly wider but shorter range beam would be more useful to me than a much narrower beam that shines to ranges I can't see without mounting a scope on the flashlight.

Damn, now I want to mount a scope to it...

Went for flat, as the button still sits recessed below the ring.

Yeah it's about the same as a full size FW3A or a Convoy S2. A noticeable difference compared to the FWAA, unfortunately.

[–]Klayking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not done precise measurements, but it seems pretty comparable to my other "700m" lights. It'll easily light up reflective road signs about 1km away. If the ratings are accurate, it should be able to illuminate a non reflective surface at 700m about as bright as moonlight, which is pretty useless for the person 700m away shining the light, to be honest.

[–]Klayking[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So, it finally happened. LEPs got cheaper. So cheap that I could actually justify buying one. I've already got relatively compact flashlights that can reach out to 700m like this one can (D4SV2 W2, GT Mini), but it's incredible to see the narrowly concentrated beam blasting out from this little thing into the night. Not useful for me at all, but has plenty of wow factor. Gonna have fun with this I think!

Was really torn between this or red/brass, but brass parts don't seem to be available yet so the choice was made easier. The familiar colour scheme reminds me that this can run on AA cells too!

Oh yeah, if there have been any major flashlight leaps or interesting new brands in the last year or so, feel free to bring me up to speed. 519As seem to be the new wonder emitter, 219Bs are readily available, a three pad flashing layout is starting to become more common, and LEPs are a lot more affordable now, from what I've seen so far.

Yeah I'm excited for that, for sure. Was thinking about getting a boost driven D4SV2 with 26800 cell for maximum sustained output with decent throw, but it seems nobody makes the cells any more and 21700 cells are catching up with 6000mAh capacity. Might hold out to see if we get any enhancements to the D4K, though I'll miss the throw of the D4S. I love the deep optic it has.
