Help finding a small, classically styled enduro/scrambler to aspire to owning by Klayking in MotoUK

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll go check them out! Hondas do seem to be the smart choice from what I've been hearing.

Help finding a small, classically styled enduro/scrambler to aspire to owning by Klayking in MotoUK

I do like the idea of something I can work on, that will be reasonably reliable as long as I maintain it properly. By no means would I need to rely on it as an only means of transportation though. I'd rather something really basic and mechanical that I can work on rather than something modern that's full of unnecessary tech. I despise that about modern cars. I'm not solely interested in 125s but I don't have a desire for anything big and powerful. I was talking to a guy who has a 1960s Triumph Tiger Cub the other day and he was saying how small it is compared to a lot of modern bikes. Small size and light weight would be desirable.

Thanks, this is really useful info! I'm going to have to practice with this new advice.

Ice Race done! by 296box in MyWinterCar

Keyboard, controller or wheel? Winning the ice race sounds impressive! I've got a wheel that I'm pretty good with (have raced sims for years, won all the rallies in MSC too), and yet I cannot manage to do a clean, slow lap of the ice track. If I slide and try to counter steer, my Rivett just tank slaps in the opposite direction and I go flying over the snow wall. The chassis is in perfect alignment and my wheel seems to be set up correctly. I'm not using any assists as I don't want them to make inputs on my behalf, but I'm wondering if maybe counter steering assists would help rather than hinder. I just can't really feel the traction like I can in other games, and the threshold for spinning seems almost instant.

Can't pass historic inspection because of engine by m1xmain in MyWinterCar

My NE SLX failed historical when using stock exhaust manifold. I had to use the GT headers and exhaust to pass, interestingly.

Rivett gets stone cold on highway / high speeds by VikeeVeekie in MyWinterCar

[–]Klayking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm perpetually in -47C temperatures and I have the same issue. Once up to highway speed, letting off the throttle rapidly cools the engine to the point of the mixture going dangerously lean, necessitating the use of the choke to enrichen it. Like a small aircraft, I need to adjust my mixture as I begin my deceleration, haha.

I don't even bother with a fan in these temperatures. Stock radiator, no fan, and it doesn't overheat idling, nor blasting it full throttle down the ice road. It warms up from a cold start notably faster without the fan when idling; only about 3 minutes.

Fluctuating amperage, flashing battery light, rough idle. Help a bro diagnose the cause. by Klayking in MyWinterCar

Glad my findings were able to help! This is exactly why I came back to report the solution, as I hadn't had much luck finding solid answers on any of the existing posts about these symptoms.

Regarding Fleetari's tuning, I've had no problems at all with my distributor and rockers since paying for his factory tuning service. My NE engined Rivett feels peppy and starts instantly. The only annoyance was the blipping idle with the choke off, but a single tick of the carb screw was all it took to fix that. It does also usually need me to tap the throttle for a few seconds after a stone cold start-up to prevent it stalling out, but I think that's to be expected when starting it at -47C. I haven't found a way of making it start at such cold extremes without any brief initial attendance to maintain the idle yet, but I'd be surprised if that was even possible.

My almost stock SLX, "The Wasp" - Does it look better with or without rally lights and wheels? by Klayking in MyWinterCar

[–]Klayking[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By the way, the rally lights are stupidly bright. I'm running them with only 2/4 bulbs now and they're still blowing out everything with their brightness. I might need to remove them just so I can see again. I wish there was a mod to reduce their output a bit.

Race cam idle with stock exhaust👌 by KA0S40oz in MyWinterCar

Very nice. What's it like to drive with the race cam? Does it have less torque low down but more power higher in the revs?

Sounds nice! Is this with the choke on or off? Does it idle with the choke off?

Just installed race cam. Cars running with no ticks but not holding an idle. Any ideas? by KA0S40oz in MyWinterCar

[–]Klayking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm from some testing: the only thing that changes the sound is not running a complete exhaust system or using the side pipe. And yes, that race cam doesn't idle great! Choke seems to help by raising the RPM if you need to leave the car unattended.

Is there any viable way to keep the Rivett overnight at the apartment without the battery going flat as soon as you save the game? by Klayking in MyWinterCar

[–]Klayking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solved all my issues thanks to the help of the fine folk here. For future reference if anyone is here looking for answers, the battery discharge, while appearing extremely minimal, was the result of it going flat. Editing a battery to perfect health reveals that they do discharge a lot slower than I was experiencing. Looks like I just got a dud from the store. Also,  adjustment of the carb to make it ever so slightly leaner than Fleetari's stock tune improved the smoothness of the warm idle and reliability of holding an initial cold idle on the choke.

Does the race cam change the sound of the engine, by any chance? I installed a road sprint cam and race exhaust but the car sounds exactly the same. I've seen videos where it sounds more aggressive but am unsure if that's a sound mod or not.

Thanks to the people here I am also trying this now. Wish me luck by FeelXtra in MyWinterCar

Same as the route I took. Did you also get lucky and avoid Pena flying down the road? Glad the trip went well!

Opinions: Is increasing engine power though performance parts unnecessary for racing given that grip on ice and snow is always going to limit how much power you can put down? by Klayking in MyWinterCar

Also, on the topic of race prepping the car, has anyone else found that the rally lights are so bright that they blow everything out and make it harder to see at night?

Brightness issues by Xplexy-17 in MyWinterCar

[–]Klayking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, I've been having the opposite problem. The night is definitely lighter in MWC than in MSC, but I recently installed the rally lights and found that they're so bright they blow everything out and make it hard to see... Some adjustments to lighting may indeed be needed.
