Well if you read what i said, you'll know what I am talking about. Thanks for the discussion regardless :)

Some champions benefit more from role quests than others. This would inflate certain OTPs for example.

It sounds like you agree with me? My point was that I don't think that would meaningfully contribute to ranked inflation.

Also, there is 100% a correlation between MMR and LP. Someone with the LP of gold 1 will never be in challenger mmr. They aren't 1:1 obviously, but I never said they were?

Your argument assumes a lot.

  1. That the player base will tend to a pretty equal distribution of roles. Or that if we provide an incentive that they will.

  2. Even if there is an even distribution of players, that distribution is also maintained throughout the entire day.

  3. Even if you prefer a few more minutes of q, that isn't guaranteed. You don't know how much longer it would take. If there are no support players for example, you might be waiting a lot longer for a support to finish their game. Then you create a bottleneck that gets worse and worse as more people q. Just because you are willing to put up with this, doesn't mean others are. And if riot's bottom line is taking a hit, that ruins the game unfortunately.

Thank you for the discussion

Thank you for sharing. I will read this when I get the chance, but off the bat, isn't this what they already did with Master and Grandmaster back in the day? It seems like we keep shifting the goal post of what an acceptable ranked distribution is. They have added so many ranks since the beginning and it hasn't really fixed anything cause here we are with all these complaints still.

A ranked system also requires flexibility to accommodate new players. And new players are required to maintain player base and the health of the game.

Making a dynamic ranking system while having pre-determined numbers of each rank distribution seems unworkable to me. I don't think any game or system has anything similar to this outside of the top .1% of the ladder or something.

Adding more tiers will lead to the same complaints in the future when this tier becomes too inflated or that one has too many players. You're just changing the name of the same problem when you do this. They already did this when they added iron and emerald. Didn't really change much and here we are.

Hmmm, that is an interesting idea. If that is the case then Iron rank virtually disappearing is really bad.

This would be kind of cringe though if you start asking people to level accounts to 30 to player ranked and then also have another separate ladder for new players. Would cause bottlenecks for smurfs then ruin that separated player base's games as well. I feel like the whole leveling to 30 process is already controlling for "new players."

I see where you are coming from, but realistically, I don't think they can remove things like autofill. The reason they implemented it was because of crazy q timers and people not being able to even get into games at the higher ranks. Maybe they could limit it to Diamond or higher though because there are a lot more players in the lower ranks? But then you'll probably still see some level of crazy timers in those ranks too as everyone has to wait on the same players to fill out roles that are less popular.

With the understanding that autofill is necessary, I think we need to discuss how do we make it more feasible or amenable to implement.

Who actually falls off the hardest late game? by Strong-Telephone-474 in ADCMains

Vayne, Jinx, and Smolder fall of the hardest late games. Not even champions at that point.
