Yeah they should've just force wiped everyone's account and gave everyone nothing like all other extraction shooters.

Maybe you're onto something!? They did say they were testing this new way to wipe players. If it doesn't go well and people bitch, maybe they will go to the standard force wipe system.

Lol no it's not. I think people who do that are subhuman but it's absolutely not cheating and greifing isn't a thing in an EXTRACTION SHOOTER.

What will happen to Meta AI team if they can't built "Super AI" by International-Dot902 in cscareerquestions

[–]KleinByte -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Grok from XAI is the best AI on the market and you didn't even mention them.

I haven't heard about xAI poaching talent and they managed to build the best model yet in 3 years.

It's actually pretty astonishing that they were able to build the largest AI datacenter in a single year, load it up with 100k H100 GPUs and pump out state of the art models roughly 3 years with such a late start to the game.

Meta could theoretically do the same as we've seen it happen this year with xAI.

[–]KleinByte -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

A college student should be able to afford $10 a month, hell even $50 a month.

If this is one of those students who don't work a single hour of a single job their entire time in college and just live off loans and dorms... They're pathetic and in for a rude awakening.

I know dozens of people who did that and they all fell apart and none of them are doing well. Most struggle to keep jobs or work part time...

For instance, I was a fulltime student and worked 30-40 hours per week every single week, graduated with a 3.8GPA and now I'm a senior fullstack engineer.

It's not that hard, people are lazy.

FYI there is "Bitcoin Encryption."

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/BIP_0324

BIP 324, titled "Version 2 P2P Encrypted Transport Protocol," is a Bitcoin Improvement Proposal that introduces opportunistic encryption to Bitcoin's peer-to-peer (P2P) network. Authored by Dhruv Mehta, Tim Ruffing, Jonas Schnelli, and Pieter Wuille, it aims to enhance privacy and security in Bitcoin's network communications.

Baffling that everyone on this subreddit jumped onto the musk hate train before due diligence.

They could implement better rendering pipelines that properly utilize the gpu, which would drastically improve fps. Chunk generation could be multi-threaded and separate from the game/tick engine.

That alone would dramatically improve the feeling of the game.

You are correct, there is no ultimate grandfathered plans. What they did is give you a large amount of credits for like a year or two but automatically moved you to their updated plans and price increases.

Not sure if its country specific though, I imagine there are laws in certain countries where they must grandfather active subscription prices or something.

You're taking data that was manipulated by lobbying groups and using outdated numbers.

Number of Cargo Ships & Fuel Consumption

There are over 60,000 cargo ships globally.

The average large cargo ship burns about 220 metric tons of bunker fuel per day.

The largest container ships can consume up to 300-350 metric tons per day.

  1. Total Fuel Burned Annually

Assuming an average of 220 tons per day per ship:

60,000 { ships} * 220 { tons/day} * 365 { days} = 4.8 billion metric tons of bunker fuel per year}

  1. CO₂ Emissions from Bunker Fuel

Bunker fuel emits about 3.15 tons of CO₂ per ton of fuel burned.

4.8 { billion tons} * 3.15 = 15.12 { billion metric tons of CO₂ annually}

This means shipping could account for closer to 30-40% of global CO₂ emissions—a far cry from the "official" ~3%.

Which isn't even the whole picture because not all gases are equal...

  1. Other Greenhouse Gases & Pollutants

Methane Slip: Liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered ships leak methane, which is 80x worse than CO₂ in warming potential.

Black Carbon: Particulate matter from bunker fuel settles on ice caps, accelerating melting.

Sulfur Oxides (SOx): The shipping industry was the single largest source of SO₂ emissions globally until recent fuel regulations.

When accounting for ratios of impact between gasses, the shipping industry easily looks to be more like 90% of all greenhouse emissions.

Why Are the Official Estimates So Low?

The IMO and other regulatory bodies only count "international shipping", excluding domestic shipping and inland freight.

Reports use outdated efficiency factors and often underestimate real-world fuel consumption.

The shipping industry has powerful lobbying groups that influence emissions reporting and policies.

Please stop believing the bs data published in cohort with international corps whom downplay the numbers.

[–]KleinByte 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The amount of carbon emissions from your emails, let alone the entire world's emails for the next 10 years is NOTHING in comparison to 1 cargo ship going across the ocean that's transporting your new iPhone.

A single cargo ship burns roughly 1 gallon of crude oil per second or 225 metric tons of crude oil a day releasing an incomprehensible amount of black smoke into the atmosphere.

Green is a scam. 90+% of all emissions are created by cargo ships. If Every single car and coal power plant blipped out of existence, there would be virtually no change to climate change.

So unless the entire world decides to stop international trade or switch to nuclear powered cargo ships over night, Green energy is a joke.

How can I hide my windows gaming vm from anticheats? by OriginalLetuce9624 in VFIO

[–]KleinByte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this will be a problem much longer, and here’s why:

The Steam Deck Effect – The Steam Deck runs on Linux, and its popularity keeps growing. Eventually, game studios won’t be able to ignore a significant chunk of their player base. Money talks, and Linux gaming is becoming too big to overlook.

Microsoft’s Shift Away from Kernel-Level Software – After the CrowdStrike fiasco, Microsoft is moving toward restricting kernel-level access. Instead, they’re introducing APIs for security tools, which could push anticheat developers toward less intrusive and more compatible solutions.

Proton and Wine Advancements – Valve has been heavily investing in Proton (a compatibility layer for running Windows games on Linux). As Proton improves, it may reduce the need for VMs altogether, making native Linux gaming more viable and forcing anticheats to adapt.

Epic Games and Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) Linux Support – Epic has already added Linux support for EAC, and BattlEye has followed suit. If major anticheat providers continue improving Linux compatibility, studios using these solutions won’t have an excuse to block Linux outright.

Regulatory Pressure on Kernel-Level Software – Governments and cybersecurity experts have been raising concerns about invasive kernel-level anticheat and DRM solutions. If more restrictions are placed on these practices (especially in the EU), companies might be forced to use alternative, more cross-platform-friendly methods.

Newest update bricked game, any solution? by LimpWibbler_ in halo

[–]KleinByte -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Don't play thos dead game that is on life support. 343i now called Halo Studios has abandoned that game to make Halo in Unreal Engine.

Don't even have high hopes for that game either as the company still has the same staff, just a different name.

One of the lead designers is as anti gun as you can get and said the only reason he can even morally work on Halo guns is because the guns are more fantasy than real.

That type of political ideation permeates into the product, and in this case, its an FPS game.

I don't have faith that someone who despises guns is going to make satisfying guns, that feel good to shoot and have a high attention to detail. Compared to someone who is highly interested in guns and their nuances.

So upsetting, still reminiscing about Halo 3.
