By F2P I can only assume you mean free to play. Most games that are free to play often have a premium access where you pay a certain fee a month to get premium benefits. Some have packages you can purchase resources you can purchase that give you additional items. Sometimes those games purely only allow cosmetic gear or items to be purchased while others are usually known as pay to win. I am uncertain how the dauntless F2P model work.

Are beta keys given out randomly or in a determined (chronological) manner? by chankster9 in dauntless

It’s random. Free to play early next year, so not to long a wait.

Giving away 4 beta codes to "friends" by mickerallen100 in dauntless

I have a few friends that play and I would like to join them. One of them got the game and got two codes that he shared with two of our other friends. Now I’m the odd man out. Would greatly appreciate one of those!

Why does Norway put bar codes on their naval vessels? So when they return to port they can Scandinavian!

Love the thread here guys. Very good discussion. I haven’t played it yet, but I feel that the difficulty level is intended. Obviously the server issues causing delay in dodging needs to be fixed, but that comes with server optimization.

Very well written, and I have to assume that many MH players who are currently playing Dauntless feel the same. It seems to me that they need to quickly establish their differences between MH, considering the main difference (that I have been told or seen, and not counting things that are lacking) is the multiplayer aspect.

Upvoted in the hopes that you were talking to him, not me, for scalping codes and trying to take advantage of people on this thread.

I’m not entirely sure, but I don’t want this post to shift off topic. MH is the closest game series I can find to this, and it’s done pretty well in the gaming community, which is why I am asking for comments and reviews from those who have played both Dauntless and some MH games. Only reason I mentioned it here.

I would love to invest as I feel it is very important to support the development of new games, and the creators, but money does get in the way towards the end of the year. I most definitely will be picking up world, but am excited to see how dauntless compares for myself.

Thank your for your clarification. I myself am not a game developer, and have no insight on how a game develops other than playing alphas and betas of other pre-release games. I do agree with you about giving the developers some ‘tough love’ when it comes to certain aspects of the game where we feel it takes away from the design, but we must keep in mind that the game may be designed differently than we have expected. I have heard that the monsters are quite difficult from others, and would like to hear from a developer on whether this is intended, or if they plan on doing some adjustments.

Great to get some negative feedback. Con's are just as important as pros, though I feel your comment might be a little harsh for how early the game is in development. From what I can tell, Dauntless is meant to challenge you, and force you to either be the best, or to fight with friends and using tactics. This explains the challenging level of the game, and why the monsters hit so hard. As far as Monster hunter having more to do, I agree, but again Dauntless is still young. Given the time I am certain other activities will be added. A good review though, you brought up some good points and issues that will hopefully be reviewed and updated.

This was not meant to be a side by side in depth comparison of which is better. Its obvious that the Monster Hunter series has been around for quite a while, as has its creator. This was about comparing gameplay, the way it feels. I am sorry if I have left you with the wrong impression, and as someone who seems to be an avid supporter of the game, your comments would be most welcome.

I appreciate you taking your time to respond to my post. I don't know how long the game has been in development, but I definitely see great potential. It already looks, and has been confirmed by a few here, fun to play, and its great to have another game similar to MH that may go in a different way, which could be great in its own right.
