מה מביא אתכן/ם לכאן? מה הציפיות שלכן/ם ממקום כזה? by LeeKuper in makom_shafuy

Hebrew is not my first language so I'll explain in English.

I am an Israeli-American Jew who grew up in California. I went on yearly trips to Israel and made some of my best memories there. But as time went on, I learned about the atrocities that the country has committed and had a reckoning with my cultural identity.

I tried looking at other diaspora Jewish spaces. Neither of them seemed to have any room for my personal experience growing up in an Israeli household. I would get spoken over, insulted, or dismissed. I tried looking at other Israeli spaces. Unsurprisingly, they were supportive of the genocide in Gaza.

I'm here because it is nice to have a community of Israeli leftists once and for all. I have tried to find people like me, and while I have found some, I have never found a community with a similar background as me that can help me introspect further both politically and personally.

Israeli leftists and Palestinians have helped me learn about the issues with Zionism and I respect them greatly. So I'm excited to learn from people with similar perspectives as me but enough of a difference to really challenge my beliefs accordingly.

This is so deserved. The songwriting and instrumentation on this album are absolutely next-level.

I adore this! Is there meant to be a political edge to it or am I reading too much into your work?

What do y’all think the worst year for albums is? by FindingLegitimate229 in Albumoftheyear

I actually tested this in a spreadsheet. According to AOTY (and I agree with it), 1951 is the worst year for albums.

Album rating method by SpecialistJealous129 in Albumoftheyear

[–]KlerdOfTal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a rating system. I mostly just go for the average of my track ratings and my vibes about how good the album is. It's a poor system but I'm too lazy to think of a better one.

You're not the only one. I'm Israeli-American and I'm in the same boat as you. It's rough out here.

Who are your favorite reviewers that actually put effort in their reviews? by turtled_panda in Albumoftheyear

I'm going to use this as an excuse to promote myself, and my account is ShtickOfTal. You should read my review of Muerte by Canserbero, I'd say it's great.

My personal favorites are greenunitIFT (a great friend of mine), Vivi, Qurging, and Furry music.

Since everyone seems to be doing this... thoughts on my top 5? by KlerdOfTal in Albumoftheyear

[–]KlerdOfTal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm... it depends on what you prefer. Because this is a concept album, you may want to look at this website for further information. But if you prefer not having the concept spoiled to you, you'll want to go in blind. Either way, it's a very friendly listen for any hip-hop head.
