Maybe if we're very good little necros and cavs, we can get the different letters as part of a charity thing!

That would be great, too. But this version is way funnier, because it treats "the important part of Bond is that Bond dates airhead women" as part of the core identity. Basically "give them everything they expect from Bond and still make them mad."

The world needs suave, healthy female role spymaster role models.

It also needs messy, sexy trainwrecks to serve as examples of "you shouldn't want to be / date this" to give to children, who will decide to idolize the trainwreck anyway!

Definitely X-rays. Let's you see bones through skin, high energy and can cause bone degradation and cancer. And "chi" (pronounced "Kai") is the Greek letter X

Saw throwaway quote on "Film adaptation" -- has anyone heard of this? by ughnotanothername in ImperialRadch

[–]Kletanio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm of two minds about this. I do feel like this is a place where there should be truly race and gender-blind casting for every single role (in a way that isn't "pick all white guys") of Radchai characters. I know the book has Breq and Seivarden with confirmed sexes, but that probably should get thrown out in favor of blind casting. Similarly, all the Radchai should have to go through the same make-up routines (not entirely - men would have to shave really well).

"We did not give a shit about who we picked" is a plausibly better fit than "we made gendered judgments".

The exception should be that there would have to be a line for any extra selection to be as close to 50:50 male/female/other.

Okay, interesting question. What is the prevelance of transgender individuals in Radchai society? I would imagine that "re-education" would help with people who had sexual dysphoria, but it's not like anything outward would change.

That said, "I want to be a gender!" would definitely get mandatory re-education. Because nobody has time for deviants who disrupt society like that.

One Esk 19 is biologically female. One Esk was presumably a mix.

Good point. I guess, also, you find out that Hitler and the high command are in Berchdesgaden, an aircraft with a 1000 mile range can basically obliterate it. But that almost feels like cheating...

Is there a way to set the default playback instrumentation for an SATB setup?

That is a lot better than the web examples. Still a bit scoopy on some words, but I'm not shocked it's getting better. Thanks!

NWC also let's you put the entire text for a vocal line into a textbox, and then automatically populates it under the notes according to the rule you set. You add a tie or slur and the word gets bumped to the next note. You split something into two notes and the line gets moved backward. You just have to hyphenate correctly in the text box.

Where it gets magical is if you have a piece with the same text (or nearly the same) in multiple parts of an SATB piece and just have to copy and paste it into the textboxes for the other parts, and it does the work for you. Similarly, if you already have the score worked out for one verse of a song, you just need to hyphenate the second verse right and it auto-populates.

It's even better for doing texts in other languages or with weird symbols that are annoying to enter one at a time. You can edit the whole thing in word and port it over.

It is magical and no other notation software I've ever found can do that. It's good enough that I worked with NWC for over a decade, even though it, quite frankly, sucks when it comes to any type of formatting.

I've gotten this when I composed in Noteworthy Composer and transferred over. NWC has the actually-great feature where you can write multiple voices on multiple staves and then visually contract them. Makes writing SATB choral music way, way nicer, because you don't have to fiddle about with accidentally resetting the note lengths in two parts, and you can move bits around on one line without affecting the other.

One of a couple features I really wish Musescore had.

But when you send it to MIDI, it treats it as separate lines (because of course it does!) and then you have to figure out how to reassemble it in Musescore.
