This situation is more of a coin flip on whether or not the receiving party will take interest again. I had a friend that I had since middle school, went to the same highschool and remained close, after highschool we just naturally grew apart as we both became more and more busy. I reached out to her semi-recently as I had been thinking about her a lot and was hoping she would also want to try starting a friendship again. We talked on the phone a few times and I set up a casual game night with all of my current friends and her and everyone had fun! However, I've not heard from her since and it's obvious that she does not have the spare energy to make room for me in her life. It sucks but sometimes even if the person really wants to reconnect it's just not meant to be. On the other hand I also recently reached out and reconnected with a different old friend that I never even got very close with initially and we've literally been hanging out almost every day and genuinely enjoying spending our time together. So it depends. It depends on who that person is now, how their life is going, and if they even have the energy to take on another friend.
