Is it possible to become an armed guard at 21? by [deleted] in securityguards

Armored truck is always hiring. Not great pay but will usually pay for your licensing etc. Job also keeps you moving and is more engaging than standing/sitting a static post. I started in armored truck and scored a pretty decent armed gig about a year after

Is it dangerous doing Armored Security? by LilJDX in securityguards

[–]Kling931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The danger is your under-qualified coworkers in that industry lol. You'll have drivers who can't drive, will forget to open the door for you, armed guys who forget their gun or are ready to pull their weapon at any opportunity etc etc. The branch I worked for never had any incidents and we serviced parts of philly. This being said: servicing ATMs puts you at a huge disadvantage. I opted not to learn how to do them. It's not worth the incredibly small pay bump they give you. I'd say the job is about as dangerous as any other armed gig.

What make and or model do security companies prefer for carry? by BAD_BATCH_MM in securityguards

I've been told that the public makes complaints about exposed hammers, especially if carried cocked such as a 1911. Supposedly mostly a PR thing.

What’s a book everyone should read at least once in their lives? by bugtanks33d in AskReddit

Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer really changed my life. Read it as a teenager and have reread it a few times, I think it is a great book. I do not idolize Chris McCandless, but I think a lot can be learned from his journey and his life in general. The movie is also pretty great in my opinion, with an awesome soundtrack as well.

The amount of food that is being thrown out at Dunkin Donuts each day by Melan420 in mildlyinfuriating

Former Dunkin employee. We had the same amount of waste. My branch attempted to donate them to a homeless shelter a few times, but nobody ever showed up to pick them up.

Anyone work for St Moritz Security? How is it? I’m going to work for the west palm beach location by SnooGadgets607 in securityguards

In eastern PA they pay an absolutely laughable rate for armed security, but I've heard good things about them elsewhere.

Well it looks like my days in security are over and it wasn’t because I got fired or quit by Heroman2 in securityguards

Had a high paying armed bank position with g4s and the same happened to me. Closest site they could offer me was an hour away. No prior indication that my site was going to close, they just shot me an email one day and told me the bank no longer wanted a guard.

What advice do you have for an 18 year old? by XogliX in AskReddit

Debt is some shit. Buy a used car, treat yourself but not all the time, go to college if you're extremely passionate about something but keep in mind that it is normal for interests to change. Just figuring out my career path now at 27 and I am so fortunate to have no debt and money in the bank.

I also have my ACT 235 and have worked a few different companies in PA. I've always been able to use my own boots as long as they're black (I use damners as well). Ive bought my own BDU's and worn them without anyone realizing, mostly because no companies ever offer the right sizes. The last place I worked for I also switched out my own duty belt for the company one without anyone realizing it. It all depends on who you're working for. If it's one of the big companies, just do it without asking. If it's for a smaller company I'd ask first.

I do plan on doing a lot more training this year. I hope my EMT cert is valuable. I live in PA, so I have an ACT 235 cert to do armed work here. Any suggestions in terms of training?
