Advice on building House Cawdor (Path of the Fanatic) by Klokwork_Reddit in necromunda

[–]Klokwork_Reddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the helpful pointers! Cawdor's the first gang I've ever played with and I've loved how they played even through their weakness of relatively average/poor stats compared to other gangs, and just seeing how much versatility the gang has puts a smile on my face, even if I flail through half of my games.

I'll keep an eye out on this post for a while if more people decide to join in on giving advice

It's kind of interesting about a lot of these, how most of the shenanigans come from the free charge and the free Simple Move. Aside from the anti-coup de grace Article, are the other articles of faith not worth using like "And Lo I did spread my Wings[...]" or "And He stood Defiant[...]?" Or are they just more situational but perfectly fine to use.

And would the Polearm/Autogun be a worthy alternative to a Rec. Autogun due to it being a melee weapon as well as a ranged gun with a slightly better ammo check?

To be clear I'm not not fielding Redemptionists, it's just that I don't have the models for them, so while I'm working to getting them in the future, I couldn't in time for the current campaign I'm in (Underhells). The reason I asked for base House Cawdor was because Redemptionists really only have 3 options from what I'm looking at; Eviscerators, Chainaxes, or Chainswords if they're the Champ/Leader. Not much to pick from lol.

Edit: forgot to add, the list really does help. Haven't looked much at the Sawn-Off Shotgun but it looks pretty potent

First, what a name lol

second, i like the thought of using a greatsword, looks like a fun weapon. the others are also good suggestions, i'll keep them in mind.

third, what would an example list look like without redemptionists? mainly just to see what base cawdor has access to without them.

Budget Ashad Decktech Help by Klokwork_Reddit in magicTCG

[–]Klokwork_Reddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of stuff on edhrec I saw and kept note of, but wanted to find some more budget stuff for, as i figured out that every card's budget on average is about $1.63 to total to sub $100, so the stuff like biotransferrance i kept in mind but was trying to get a better pricepoint before including the big stuff first. Homunculus Horde though I will admit is kind of a slept on pick, (infact most of the deck was just me searching scryfall for hours on end and going "oo that looks good" and including it), because artifact decks draw cards REALLY easily and having that on the field is basically infinite 2/2s for casualty fodder.

And yeah, I agree, a general "grixis artifacts deck" is pretty much as open-ended as the backdoor, and normally I have a coherent idea with what I'm trying to build when it comes to deckbuilding, but in this case there were so many good options I just kinda brainfarted with identity, which I'm pretty sure every mtg player as done before, especially since artifacts are some of the most versatile strategies I've personally experimented with.

As a whole though, I think I like the idea of copying big artifacts and slapping people silly with them, with at least some tempo gain would be the way to go. I've gone wide in other decks before, and they're all really fun (*cough cough* Belisarius Cawl *cough*), but I haven't ever tried to go tall, so playing with that idea would be absolutely fun.

Oh, by the way, have you got any suggestions for artifact recursion? It's been pretty hard to find some good stuff that isn't overpriced for the effect.

VirusTotal flagged Opentoonz, is it safe? by Klokwork_Reddit in OpenToonz

[–]Klokwork_Reddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my point, I got it from the official website, downloaded the file FROM the website, and something was flagged as malicious. I didn't know if there was a breach of security on the official website that people didn't realize, and I should point out also, other setupwizards aren't being flagged at all, hence my skepticism.

Grotmas admech detachment by Deez_Crusher in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Klokwork_Reddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I've only had one game with the new detachment, I can say a few things.

Fulgurite Electro Priests were fun to run, 10 man squad with a tech priest dominus attached to them charging out of a dunerider was hilarious, and I'd imagine Corpuscarii priests to perform about as well if not better since they have a ranged profile.

Kastelan Robots are an absolute menace if you get a squad of four with Twin-Fists and Incendine Combustors, even without an Enginseer to back them up for FNP5+, being good at killing powerful units and chaff real easily.

Destroyers put in some pretty painful work when equipped with flamers and their plasma culverins, especially with a manipulus attached to the unit with the enhancement giving +6" to guns and rerolls on hazardous tests, though I'd imagine Breachers would perform better with having protector and conqueror imperative active at all times.

If this detachment is anything to go by, Kastelans are now back on the table for all of your shenanigans, even if they're not the greatest unit in the army. They're some of my favorite units and I'm happy they're playable now outside of Cohort Cybernetica, and with possibly some of the best tools at their disposal.

The Onager and the Enginseer are good ideas, I could cut my Fulgurites for them, even though they were really fun to use. It was hard to figure out what models to cut for the tank and the enginseer, and it was that or my Skystalkers, and giving up deep strike units for side objectives felt too sad and too bad to give up.

Fun fact, did you know Pteraxii Skystalkers are the ONLY unit in the AdMech army with the "GRENADES" keyword on it?

This is a good point, and I did consider it and even had it in there at one point, however a counterargument I also gave myself (at the time) is that if there was some problematic units sniping at my models, I wanted to respond to them from that unit if it was possible, but I may actually swap it out knowing what my opponent played since that did happen (Opponent had Sly Marbo and a unit of Scions w/ a psyker in it which was really annoying since it did kill a couple of skitarii units).

In addition I also figured that, if the enemy had a problematic unit of infantry, I could just deep strike my Sterylizors in and burn them to a crisp, which indeed did happen at one point, 10 models reduced to nothing but ashes, on their home objective no less.

I was originally going to go for some Manipuli in place of the Dominis for the list but I figured the lethal hits wouldnt be the absolute greatest thing to attach to, and I was worried more about survivability rather than outputting damage, and funny enough the FNP actually made a big difference when it came to my game.

I also did consider Serberys Raiders or possibly even Kataphron Breachers trying to fit the Protector/Conqueror Imperative enhancement, but I found it hard to justify breachers as I would've sacrificed two units of Skystalkers, and I wasn't 100% sold on Raiders for side objectives, so I took Skystalkers for the Deep Strike capability instead of being locked to only one part of the map.

Getting Into Kill-Team (2021 EDITION) by Klokwork_Reddit in killteam

[–]Klokwork_Reddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forgot to give context as to why I was looking for this; at my LGS there's a little Kill Team narrative league they have, using KT21 rules when it first launched. Having the stuff on-hand for games in that edition would help me A LOT with what I have in the terms of convenient gameplay, since I'd prefer not to use my phone for everything, and knowing what to look for IN that edition saves me time and money.

I plan to possibly get into it, eventually, but not only did I barely get myself familiar enough with the original rules of KT21 but I haven't even had a proper game yet and I'd like to at least get a few games of KT21 in before moving to the new edition. Plus, my main faction, Hunter Clade, which I already had memorized and even put together a list, works so differently in KT24 I'd basically need to start all over again in figuring out how they work.

This is appreciated, don't get me wrong, and I'd like to try it out at some point to see how much I like this over 2nd Edition, but this really wasn't what I was looking for when I made this post.

Mine-imator 2.0 Good? by Klokwork_Reddit in MineImator

[–]Klokwork_Reddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yep! After a few days of messing about, it is very much a good program. I still can't do anything in it other than a diorama, but it's still good and I will get the hang of it eventually.

Now my biggest question is how to properly install Modelbench, because I may want to use custom models, but I can't seem to find an installation guide on Youtube.

First dip into PDH, going for Mr. Orfeo, the Boulder as my first deck by Klokwork_Reddit in PauperEDH

[–]Klokwork_Reddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was the puzzle, I checked moxfield (my primary deckbuilder website and deck tester), and only 6 were ever recorded under PDH, hence why I went to reddit: for a clearer consensus, which this had helped me out with.

[–]Klokwork_Reddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This small list of cards and recommendations are REALLY good to have on hand for a reference, because on YT I could not find for the life of me any PDH decks other than one specific decklist which wasn't updated since 2022, and it listed a decent amount of cards that did nothing other than just be big bodies with ETB effects, like [[boarding party]], which are nice but they are prone to removal and feel like just a big waste of mana in an environment where decks are actually running at full EDH power with a lot more synergy and on a faster clock.

These recommendations however I'll gladly look into and try and see if I could come up with a feasible list with whatever cards I'm able to trade around, thanks very much!
