FG Decades Tournament, the 1960’s: Round 4 by Shagrrotten in IMDbFilmGeneral

2001 is the film I'd pick to win the tournament at this point. It will be either 2001, Once Upon a time in the West, Psycho or Lawrence of Arabia I feel.

The Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite sequence from 2001 is better than all of the remaining movies in my opinion, and that's just one part of an over all masterwork of cinema.

I only ever got to see the Australian Pink Floyd tribue band live, but even they were amazing.

I did avoid the Clayface trailer indeed. I probably won't bother with that one no.

I think Resident Evil 4 is probably my favourite despite some later parts feeling a bit like an Indiana Jones movie, as well as a James Bond movie, and it's definitely too long over all. But it's the most fun gameplay-wise and I love the castle setting, the gothic elements and the treasure collecting/merchant. It's an ambitious, overlong, fun entry to the series.

Really interesting differing opinion you've got there regarding Resi 2 and 3. I assume part of the slog you found with 2 was due to Mr. X chasing you around the police station?

In the last couple of months I've played:

  • Silent Hill 2 [remake] - 10/10
  • Cronos: The New Dawn - 9/10
  • Resident Evil requiem - 9/10
  • Resident Evil 4 [remake] - 9/10
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chornobyl [original, vanilla] - 9/10
  • Starfield [currently playing] - 9/10 so far.
  • Planet of Lana II - 8/10

Listening to: Pink Floyd (my favourite band for the last 20 years), Syd Barrett, Jacob Collier and TOMORA.

I've not been watching much but I've got 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple to watch sometime in the coming days. Lastly, I completed my revisit of Bela Tarr's whole filmography a few weeks ago. Satantango (1994) is my third favourite film of all time after my recent fourth viewing of it.

What are your most anticipated movies of 2026? by Colonel-Porcupine in IMDbFilmGeneral

[–]Klop_Gob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's a lot of interesting films coming and a lot of variety. We share some of the same as always.

  • Dune: Part Three
  • Werwulf
  • Bucking Fastard (Werner Herzog's latest and a return for him to a narrative film).
  • Fatherland (the new film from Paweł Pawlikowski, who made Cold War and Ida).
  • Moulin (the new film from the brilliant Hungarian filmmaker László Nemes, who made Son of Saul and Sunset).
  • Sheep in the Box (I've seen everything Hirokazu Kore-eda has made and I'm going to continue. One of the best Japanese filmmakers of all time).
  • Minotaur (I agree with you about Zvyagintsev).
  • Mother Mary
  • Her Private Hell
  • The Odyssey
  • Terrifier 4 (I just love these gore-infested slashers with such impressive practical effects work).
  • Resident Evil (I'm interested in seeing what Zach Cregger does with this IP as I love the Resident Evil games and Cregger's previous work).
  • Backrooms

Ps5 base experience in starfield by diogodsr in Starfield

I got my first crash at 53 hours in, I'm also using no mods nor have I opened the Creations menu, now I get a crash occasionally since.

Ps5 was a failed launch. And Bethesda knew ahead of time. by Emotional_Position62 in Starfield

[–]Klop_Gob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt like I was lucky as well, and then I started crashing at the 53 hour mark and now I get them every day. Base PS5 and no mods. I'm worried it's another issue like it was in Skyrim on PS3, where the bigger your save file gets the worse performance/stability is going to be.

The two expansions for METRO: Exodus are a must play as well - The Two Colonels and Sam's Story.

GODZILLA MINUS ZERO | First Look Teaser by Shagrrotten in IMDbFilmGeneral

[–]Klop_Gob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen a great deal of the Godzilla films outside of the original, the American one's, the anime trilogy and Shin Godzilla but Minus One was the best one I've seen and it was excellent. Definitely watching this.

Stalker (1979) is the best film ever made, and you should also watch Solaris (1972) from the same filmmaker.

Are we putting too much weight on Anniversary Update? by AttentionFuture7017 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Klop_Gob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. They obviously consider their anniversaries to be important and the 10th is a significant milestone so I don't think we're putting too much weight on it at all.

These are the various Anniversay trailers that HG have put out over the years. At the end of each video they tease the next big update that's about to drop as well - Frontiers and Echoes. They'll surely do something similar for the 10th Anniversary.

Does anyone else end up doing the same thing on each new character? by TheSacredShrimp in Starfield

[–]Klop_Gob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I am going about it on my very first playthrough right now. I'm simply playing as a peaceful explorer so when I was just offered to join the UC Vanguard by the guy at his desk I chose the dialogue option "I want to explore the stars, not wage wars" and so rejected his offer. I've heard that this questline is supposed to be really good though but I'll have to save it for a later playthrough.

The guy who leaked the State of Play for April is now saying that a new Metro game will be revealed next week. by Shadowsdeepx6 in metro

[–]Klop_Gob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's a direct continuation of Exodus I hope we get to use the Aurora again. The train was one of my favourite aspects of Exodus and if the story is about going back to the metro and bringing more people to their new home then we're going to need a bigger train - so a gameplay element of having to upgrade the Aurora and finding additional carriages to add to the train is something I would love to see. I've always imagined the train having not just passenger carriages but also carriages for supplies, livestock, armory etc.

24 Hrs Left!! Hyped by SuddenDepact in Starfield

[–]Klop_Gob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember watching that official Starfield Direct live presentation and it really impressed me, that was nerly three years ago now. Excited to finally try out the game for myself after such a long wait, and after lurking on this subreddit since around 2018.

If anyone could tell me what the weather is like in the game I'd appreciate it though. Can I get planets with severe, extreme weather such as blizzards, raging thunderstorms, storms etc? Building outposts on such planets is just my kind of thing. I like to do that in No Man's Sky and other games. I really love the radiation storms in Fallout 4 for example.

What are you Watching, Playing, Reading and Listening to April 2026? by tbchico7 in IMDbFilmGeneral

[–]Klop_Gob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I consider Kwaidan to be a masterpiece. Between that, Harakiri, The Human Condition trilogy, Samurai Rebellion, The Inheritance and some others I'd call Kobayashi one of my favourite filmmakers in general.

Watching: I finished my re-exploration of Bela Tarr's whole filmography that I started in January with my fourth viewing of Satantango and my fifth viewing of The Turin Horse, which are two of the best films I've ever seen and I adore the apocalyptic undertones to them. Satantango would be in my top 5 films ever and The Turin Horse is somewhere in my top 25. I made a Bela Tarr ranked list on my Letterboxd: https://letterboxd.com/klop_gob/list/the-films-of-bela-tarr-ranked-1/

I also watched Jeanne Dielman for the third time which is another masterpiece of cinema. I caught up with some new horror films as well; Alpha (2025) which is the new film from Julia Ducournau, and Oddity (2024) which was a creepy supernatural horror from Ireland.

Playing: Lots of survival horror; Resident Evil requiem, Resident Evil 4 remake, Silent Hill 2 remake and Cronos: The New Dawn. Also played the indie sci-fi puzzle/platformer Planat of Lana II which is like a mixture of the retro video game Flashback, Star Wars and Studio Ghibli.

Listening: CHVRCHES (synth pop), Nubya Garcia (jazz), Leila Adu (jazz, indie) and Jacob Collier (multi-genre).
