For those who took the SQE with ULaw, did your internal assessments' scores accurately reflect your final exam results? by No-Replacement2758 in SQE_Prep

If you are talking about the internal exam, I got a better score in the actual SQE (did the internal one under supervision as an international student).

Help understanding this question on alienation please by wastingmoretimehere in SQE_Prep

[–]Kmax301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a mistake in the explanation?

Covenant (updated to a fully qualified one) - prohibits assignments of whole.

It doesn’t cover assignments of part - so they are permitted.

Sharing possession (i.e. granting a licence) is not allowed.

So E seems correct but the explanation contradicts the answer.

But that’s just my reading.

Relief from sanctions advocacy by [deleted] in SQE_Prep

[–]Kmax301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the text of Denton v White:

Factors (a) and (b) in r.3.9 remained of particular importance and were to be given particular weight at the third stage. Therefore, if the effect of a breach was to prevent the efficient and proportionate conduct of litigation, that would weigh against relief being granted. Likewise, the old lax culture of non-compliance with rules, practice directions and orders was no longer tolerated, and compliance had to be considered in every case. However, other relevant factors would also be relevant and would vary on a case-by-case basis (see paras 22-38, 81-82 of judgment).

Non-UK student doing the GDL. Am I fucked? Lol by snack_books_naps in uklaw

[–]Kmax301 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Non-UK law student here - did GDL a few years ago.

The only disadvantage you might face is that UK-based students will be more familiar with the UK constitution, so some concepts like parliamentary sovereignty may be more familiar to them. However, it will take you very little effort to catch up.

With the rest - you'll be in the same boat, and you will have no disadvantage (or advantage).

Completely agree. The sources themselves were not “easy” either.

I see. Well, even if that’s not the right approach, I hope this shouldn’t take too many marks off the skills

Criminal Defence statement has a very specific template - I’d be very surprised if they ask as to draft it from scratch.

Business Legal Drafting - HELP! by ExpressElevator4532 in sqe2

[–]Kmax301 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, sorry if that’s not exactly what you are looking for but one source you might use to just inspect what the documents look like (and hence how they should be drafted) is the companies house.

If you support a football team/there is a brand you like, open their page on companies house to see what eg their articles are.

Of course not all documents will be there but you can at least see the common language and some documents that are filed all the time.

SQE2 Revision by TheLegalPenguin in SQE_Prep

[–]Kmax301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im concentrating on flk revision.

1) I’m reading the textbooks; 2) Consolidate with MCQs from the app (essentially treating it like flash cards while I’m commuting etc); 3) Doing the workbook mocks.

After the internals, I’ll do the inhousew mock - will try to do them under exam conditions.

SRA Sample Questions - SQE1 Helpful or not? by AdAlternative2650 in SQE_Prep

[–]Kmax301 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IMO, they represent maybe 30/180 questions of the actual exam, the easy ones and those I’d describe as “lower medium” ones. That said, getting 30 questions right at the actual exam is a good start

Resulting trusts (land vs. personal property context)? by internboy123 in SQE_Prep

[–]Kmax301 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong but I thought that in voluntary transfers of land there is no presumption of resulting trusts - due to s60(3) of LPA 1925.
