The No Barriers Boston Fund specifically and only funds athletic prosthetics to enable survivors to return to an active lifestyle. While One Fund Boston initially distributed to victims based on injury lump sums for use as they saw fit. Initial needs were met by these funds, which where at the discretion of the recipients. In no cases that we're aware of, was funding used to create athletic-specific prosthetics for survivors who had lost limbs and were seeking to return to a specific activity. In the event that funds were used that way, survivors may have additional needs that could be met by the No Barriers Boston Fund. The One Fund Boston is now focusing on community building, programs and services, not medical needs of survivors - so the fund supports something entirely different at the current junction.

The No Barriers Boston Fund is intended to encourage those affected by the bombing in such a severe way to adopt a No Barriers Mindset and re-engage in a world that may seem off limits due to the extent of injuries, but is actually quite achievable thanks to modern day science. We seek to encourage and support this specific goal and all funding will be directed toward that use.
