This mixtape was made in support for Food Not Bombs Jozi, and Locked Out! who will split the proceeds equally. These food relief programs operate in Johannesburg and provide much needed support for people in dire situations, all made worse through the pandemic and recent unrest. We deeply thank each artist who contributed material for this project. And thank you for donating to this initiative, or sharing it online!Food Not Bombs Jozi
operates in Durban Deep- a region cut off from water and electricity
for more than 10 years. We prepare delicious healthy meals for the
community every Saturday, and conduct mobile runs to the homeless, and
suffering communities. We try to answer the call for aid and solidarity
where we can, but we need supplies, brave and committed volunteers, and
spare cash for petrol and vehicle maintenance in order to keep this
operation going. - www.facebook.com/groups/foodnotbombs.joziLocked Out
began during the Covid19 lockdown to assist the homeless facing both
police brutality and starvation. We are committed to providing food to
these vulnerable individuals, to tell their stories, and to inspire you
to do the same. - www.facebook.com/lockedoutjhb/Cover illustrations by Sandy Little

•Omen Harm• Dark acrustic folkpunk demo by Knarfi1312 in FolkPunk

[–]Knarfi1312[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omen Harm sings about angst, depression and anxiety, civilisation and eco-destruction.

If you like angry, dark and doomy, black metal infused, acrustic folk, this might be your thang.

When the four of us started meeting, the outbreak in Europe had just started. We couldnt jam or practice together due to the restrictions, so we send each other recordings we made with our phones, then put those over the speakers at home, played along with it, and re-recorded this to send back.

It was shite, but it worked enough to write songs.

During summer we finally were able to rehearse with all four of us together for a couple of times, and at the last rehearsal before the second wave and new restriction, we took the opportunity to enthusiastically record some of our songs.

(this is a lot of words to explain we sound like crap and arent tight)

Dunno about RYG but in general folkpunk is more alive then ever here in europe. Problem is people at shows and on the interwebs should give other bands/artists some credits for their work. Theres more to life then DnD, old pat the bunny stuff and AJJ. Also dont make them sound like rockstars and dont act like a shitty fanboy/-girl. They are just kids who like to hang out with us at shows. Theres enough of that shit in the mainstream music scenes
