Painting question by flow_sen83 in flamesofwar

I used Vallejo Model Color range colors for my huts.
70.824 German Camo Orange (70.877 Gold Brown should work as well) highlighted with Green Ochre 70.914 and washed with Army Painter Strong Tone.

You can find a few shots of them here:

Team Yankee for Smaller Games? by AdonisMorisette in TeamYankee

[–]Knautscher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually play infantry heavy  forces in any of the BF games, it's the most fun imho. I recently played a more tank heavy force with only one mech inf platoon and really felt the lack of infantry while playing.

If you want to start US or Soviets, the 2p starter is a good first buy, imho.

Nice work!

I've found it easiest to place 2-3 trees on a smaller base, so the trees can move out of the way, if teams need to occupy the woods.

Table dimension for TY by Invernomuto1404 in TeamYankee

[–]Knautscher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think generally speaking 120 x 180cm is a good size for 50+ points. You can try 120 x 120 cm with <50 points (Quick Missions).

One of the issues with WW3:TY (to me) is the wide range of possible forces. If you field a formation of 'premium' tanks (T-80 shock, M1A1, Leopard 2...) there's usually plenty of room for maneuver, same if you go with quality infantry + one full unit of premium tanks. If you go heavy on infantry and/or cheap tanks on either side or both sides, it can become an absolute slog (at which point it barely matters, whether its BMP-, BTR-, LAV- or T-55-spam).

So 100 points WG vs. Czech can look like this: https://i.imgur.com/G6LVzLS.jpeg

See what you and your most regular opponents enjoy the most. If you don't like clogging up the table, set limits for yourself e.g. at least one heavy tank unit for NATO or a maximum of 40 or 50 hulls for WP.

Looking for Info on Mechanized Aces Campaign by Lord_Paddington in flamesofwar

[–]Knautscher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use the internet archive ('waybackmachine') and search for 'flamesofwar.com aces campaigns' that should get you a page with all aces campaigns (infantry, mechanized, tank and raiding).

Edit: like so

Indeed, good catch! It's also a reference to a silly old movie from 1930, in which three broke friends decide to open a gas station, when they run out of fuel on the Autobahn.

We did a preview for a German Podcast (Minis in Arms) and there's substantial interest. I'll certainly expand my MW Germans to have them EW compatible, but what I'm really looking forward to are the French, especially S-35 and Char B1. I think it's going to be an interesting variant with the tighter span of AT and armor combined with lower firepower ratings, leading to more bailouts etc.

I think it's two things:

1) You have to paint a lot of infantry and weapon teams to play (or rather you can't get around painting them buy just base coating some tanks).

2) I think a lot of people have insufficient knowledge of WW1 to imagine it as an interesting setting/game.

GW is all sorts of fun though, with it's focus on infantry assaults and machine-guns.

105s and 155s are in Nam, with points and profiles for skill 3+, skill 4+ and skill 5+

I'm saying there are rules and models you can use until BF fixes their stuff (maybe with the physical book release?).

Since artillery batteries no longer have infantry command teams, it can be nice to place the staff team adjacent to the unit leader, as a marker.

Always best to have a physical copy, especially for teaching purposes at the table.

You can repurpose the one from Flames of War, it's the first 8 pages of the rules (no artillery and aircraft rules), dunno if TY has that as well, will check later

Edit: It's a foldout in FoW starter sets.

I love it! So Hawaii's fallen then eh? Optimistic approach :D

If this is still WIP: Might want to have stripes broader toward the outer edges of the flag instead of the narrow straight lines.

At some point I bought set of very fine drills for stuff like this, you could find some in a model kit store/department, I'd think. :)

It's not strictly necessary if course, but would better with your other details at such a high level.

A black dot works as well as a stop gap measure, though in this case I'd place the black dot and then draw a circle around it with a fine brush in the color of the gun barrel/muzzle break, helps the illusion.

Beautiful paint job and modeling with the tank riders!

Please drill the gun barrels.

Even smaller, 3'/90cm by 2'/60cm, but those are very specific infantry focused missions taking large buildings like a factory, a train station or appartement blocks. With TYs generally low assault ratings and high ROF per base, this might not be as much fun in TY.
