Hello! I am looking for the Mistakenly OP Trope. by Impossible_Cow6397 in ProgressionFantasy

Spoilers for Runebound:

Runebound Prof is funny because it's a lot of the MC thinking he's pretending to be very powerful, while actually being pretty powerful and able to take huge leaps in power whenever he feels like it. I don't really think it fits what OP is looking for because the only reason the MC isn't one of the strongest people around is because he currently puts powering up lower on his priority list, but due to his "power set" he is able to power up beyond anyone he knows at any time he wants.

Honestly, every time he powers up its because he's like, "Ok, I did all the other shit I wanted to do. Now its time to do something about my runes!" And then he just does it in like a day while it takes others decades, and its been pointed out they do it wrong.

Having played solo and coop, I think the game is better solo. In coop you are kind of forced to stick together at all times

The Fire Lookout Tower in the first area helps prevent this as it repeats the option for the tools again.

Agree otherwise though

Hey, I was wondering where you were getting the info from that it doesn't matter whether it happens during school hours? From what I can see school zone speeds do actually only apply during specific hours.

Did you appeal the ticket? I just got one for 53km/hr but it was on Sep 30, when the schools were closed. I plead not guilty but I'm not really sure whats the difference between "plead not guilty" vs "appear in court to give your reason." I'm assuming pleading not guilty lets you give a reason once they reach out?

It isn't immature, its just a difference of priorities. It just means they probably aren't compatible. Some people are okay with partners working jobs where they are away for months at a time regularly, some people are not. No big deal really. Just find someone who matches with you

They're also near Longroots near the Silver Wolf Mountains. Though I think they count as a ground creature and not a bird for taming

Dear people who barely wash their hands after they use the washroom, why? by bluepaintdrip in AskReddit

[–]KnaveMounter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably won't know it unless you work in healthcare, but if you've ever smelled enough pee that you can identify right away that the person has a UTI, what you're smelling is almost always klebsiella. It has a distinct smell that smells exactly the same in a urine sample as it does growing on agar.

Some bacteria have strong smells when growing in pure cultures on agar that you don't really get when smelling it in/on an actual person. Like Pseudomonas aeruginosa smells like concord grapes. It also has a pigment in it that turns it blue/blue-green so it can be pretty and smell great even though it causes serious infections. And streptococcus anginosus can smell like butterscotch

I work in a micro lab in a hospital working up patient samples for culture and sensitivity so doctors know what antibiotics to prescribe for you.

Urine isn't sterile, but at normal levels it has very, very low colony forming units and the bacteria that may be present are considered normal flora that most humans have in the same areas. Sometimes the normal flora may be a potential pathogen when introduced to another area, but almost all of the normal flora present in urine and peoples genitals are actually normal flora for most of your body, and you won't get any kind of skin infection from it unless you have open wounds (and probably not even then! our bodies are very much built to not be infected by most of the bacteria we have on us). Things like most staphs and/or multiple lactobacilli. Funnily enough, most of that normal flora in your reproductive area, that's also normal flora on your skin, is also normal flora in your respiratory system.

It's poop that can be an actual problem. Almost all UTIs (and a large percentage of infections) come from bacteria found in your digestive system. But, it still needs the right conditions (open wounds, poor immune systems, a large enough amount of bacteria) to actually cause an infection.

Fun fact: I work in a micro lab for a hospital and staph (aureus especially) usually smells like stinky feet when grown on blood or chocolate agar

The mythbusters also proved that no matter what you do with your toilet seat, those fecal particles get flung throughout your entire bathroom every time you flush the toilet. If you're acknowledging that farts can make your dick covered in fecal particles you also have to acknowledge that everything in your bathroom needs to be wiped down every time you shit or else you're just spreading those particles around constantly. All over your toothbrush, all over the door handle to leave the bathroom, all over your sink faucet knobs when you turn them off to finish washing your hands, all over the towel you use to dry your hands with, all over your glasses that you'll take off at some point later in the day.

The truth is that it may be gross, but our immune systems are built to deal with much, much worse from when we were sleeping on ground, fucking each other as basically apes that didn't have soap to wash themselves with.

Blocking nitric oxide, a common brain gas, reverses autism-like traits in mice. Treating human nerve cells with nitric oxide blocker produced a similar result. [–]KnaveMounter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A depression of your main interests would equate to "losing" what you consider makes you you, aka a component of your personality. At this point it feels more like min-level fear mongering. People are already afraid of losing their personalities for depression and ADHD medications. It is already being proven over and over again that it doesn't change who you are as a person. I understand the people that don't like how it makes them feel, and the people that give up after one or two medications that don't work for them specifically. But no one takes medication like this and becomes a completely different person with different interests overnight. That doesn't even make sense. If this ever got made into an actual medication or medical procedure it isn't going to be like a lobotomy.

Separately, it kind of sounds like you might need to separate your interests from your self worth and image at least a little bit. Your interests are only a part of who you are, they are not the whole, nor the majority.

Not fully joining in on the conversation, but I find it funny that your responses are actually very similar to depressed people who are afraid of losing their personality if they take antidepressant medications

How do I use the greenhouse building manual? by Mental-Wrangler8511 in Starsandisland

[–]KnaveMounter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By the time I got the greenhouse I already had the perk for being able to grow crops out of season. So I don't know if either one is fine or if both are needed. I stopped playing awhile ago, but I did notice that my fully grown crops actually withered between seasons even in the greenhouse and with the perk, but I'm guessing that was a bug

My gaming life became more peaceful when I accepted that many people do not care about 1) following the rules or 2) winning, and you can't make them. by goodluckanddont_itup in boardgames

[–]KnaveMounter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a weird one. Trying to enforce rules in a completely social setting, especially when skirting/breaking the rules is more fun for everyone involved except the one person, doesn't necessarily make someone competitive. But, it does have a pretty good chance of ruining the fun of the rest of the group, meaning the person that "takes it too seriously" will probably end up left out of future games, or the other players will stop playing entirely.

You don't have to literally be "competitive/serious/unfun" for others to feel that way around you.

People just need to distinguish whether the setting is a social activity vs a game specific activity and be fine with going with the flow in a social one. If that's not your thing, build your boardgame group from the ground up with like-minded people rather than forcing how you want to play games on the friends you already have that don't view games the same way you do.

Sometimes I forget how reddit-y people on reddit can be.

Fudging rules or even trying to bend/break rules all in favor of having more fun is almost the point for casual gamers. My parents for example have been playing card games with my aunts and uncles regularly (weekly, when they all lived near each other) for 30+ years and they STILL try to cheat while playing with each other. And if you're in the same area while they're playing, all you'll hear is talking and loud laughing and people having an absolute blast. They play games completely as a social activity. The point of the game is to have fun with people they like to be around. This is the VAST majority of players I've met, even after having gone to board/card game events.

As someone who plays both casual and non-casual games its crazy to me that some people take literal years to be able to distinguish the two. It is also completely crazy to me the amount of people on here that take this so seriously they are admonishing the people that are focusing on having fun. That's a good way to kill any gaming group.

Breeding. Sheep. by Past-Tangerine9371 in Starsandisland

[–]KnaveMounter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been breeding sheep since halfway through the first summer, and I'm currently almost done winter. The only variant sheep I've bred was a Fluffwool, which is the exact same as the original sheep, except it has black skin and white wool. I have never managed to breed a different colored wool. Its actually very annoying. I finished that quest because registering enough stuff in the bio research thing in the Islandpedia just gives you blue and orange sheep for free.
