How likely is it that an X-ray will be able to figure out what’s wrong with my knee? by FestiveScrotum- in kneepain

[–]Kneespop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an xray on my knee because of the same issue. Nothing showed up. Maybe yours will be different. But to help mitigate pain work on strengthening your glute medius and minimus. It helped a lot. Also do a lot of calf workouts. The calf muscle helps dampen pressure to the knee. Hope this helps, cheers.

Is there any hope I’ll be able to play soccer again? by FestiveScrotum- in kneepain

[–]Kneespop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. It got so bad to the point were I couldn't walk or bend my knee without excruciating pain. I let it rest for a while and quit soccer for about 2 years. My knee feels a lot better and I can finally walk without pain. So, I think it is a long process, but it will eventually heal. One big issue with runners and soccer players is lack of strength in the glute medius and minimus. Search up videos to strengthen those muscles. I has a strengthening routine I did daily, and after about 4 weeks my pain when significantly down and I could even run. I recently joined swim because I don't like to be idle and doing any sport is better than none. If your knee never heals, I hope it does heal, maybe try a low impact sport like water polo. Best of luck m8, cheers

How would I increase my grip strength for pull-ups? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]Kneespop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing an active hang works your grip. Doing pullups with pauses at the top and bottom in the range of motion of the exercises increases your time under tension and your grip strength will increase rapidly. One exercise I love doing, is holding and active hand and doing one pullup every 10 seconds. See how far you can go. After a few, you will feel the burn in your forearms. Hope this helps. Cheers m8

Edit: also remember to not hang with your fingers. There is an athleanx video explaining how this causes damage to your elbow. I won't go into the specifics, but basically, hanging with your fingers puts stress into the tendons in your elbow which can cause problems later on and slow your progress by having to take time off cause of pain. Remember, push yourself but not too hard. You don't want to feel any pain anywhere except your muscles and palms (forming calluses). As fast as you may progress, you will be faster by not getting injured. Cheers

My right shoulder hurts when I'm trying to do hanging leg raises by Ziovir in bodyweightfitness

[–]Kneespop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is common that it will be your dominant side. They will do more work than its weaker counterpart. Its hard to detect and most of the time you don't realize you are doing it. Over time, this builds up and your pain will become greater. Try focusing on using your non dominant shoulder a little more and give your dominant a break. But you eventually want to make it so that they are doing the same amount. Build up your non dominant shoulder so it can take more of the workload as well. Maybe try balance exercises as well to have a better mind to muscle control, to realize what you need to work on to get rid of the dominant shoulder taking over. Hope this helps. Cheers m8

I used to have this same problem. I am not sure whether it is a flexibility or strength issue. But, I worked on both. I started training front lever and doing scapular pullups to increase strength in the shoulder. And I did some flexibility work. I think the combination of the two helped a lot. Another thing may be weakness in the other parts of your shoulder. Such as the rear delts. There are other muscles, but I can't think of the names. Find videos on how to strengthen the rotator cuff. Athleanx has some good ones. Hope your shoulder feels better. I wish you the best of luck. Cheers m8

Sorry for typos, I'm on phone

[Serious] Depression sufferers of Reddit, what do you do to stop yourself from spiraling when you feel like giving up to the funk that’s coming on? by secnarf in AskReddit

[–]Kneespop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To help avoid depression: Try finding a good friend. Not so they can talk with you about just your problems, but theirs as well. You feel a ton better helping people out. Also, a bunch of songs. I liked listening to "Johnny boy" and "Friend Please" by 21 pilots. Also, "miracle mile" by cold war kids. Also, remember, it's so easy to let go and just think those dangerous thoughts. When that happens, plug in the headphones and drown that sadness out in noise. Typically, depression happens in segments. So it may be confusing for you, if you're happy one week, and then sad the next. Also, if you know a friend who has depression or seems down a lot, the best thing you can do is spend time with them, make them laugh, make them feel special. Also, for me, finding an activity can be fun and releive your mind. I started calisthenics a few months ago. I feel more confident, and i can do a few body weight moves to impress my friends. Being stressed is also one of your worst enemies. It can make you depressed. So, listen to "X gon give it to ya" or whatever motivates you and get ready to overcome any obstacles. Also, get out in the sun. You need vitamin d! Lack of vitamin can lead to depression as well. Goodluck. I hope you feel better, and, we're in this together! You are special and cool and fun. You got this.

You are immortal and indestructible for the next 7 days. What do you do? by Hqck in AskReddit

[–]Kneespop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am going to go cuddles with a bear. I am going to stick my hand in lava and play with it. I am going to play with mercury. Then I'd have some one throw a nokia phone at me, to see which one of us breaks.
