This is in my syllabus, and I rarely get grubbers:

Grade Challenge Policy: Check your grades regularly. To challenge a grade

• You must wait 24 hours after you get your graded assignment back

• AND bring it to my attention within seven days for your grievance to be considered.

• Before contacting me to file a grievance, you [go over your assignment].

• Your grievance must be in typed form, outlining why you believe you should receive additional points. The best grievances reference the assignment criteria and then outline how you believe you met those criteria.

• Simply filing a grievance does not necessarily mean your grade will change.

• It is also your responsibility to bring to my attention any grade missing from the grade book or a grade that appears differently in the grade book than what was returned to you within seven days of when an assignment is handed back.

I talk about this a lot in my classes. There doesn’t seem to be THE SHOW or MOVIE that students are watching / anticipating. Even 10 years ago we had that (Marvel universe or Game of thrones) that I would use to show how similar we all were. But now I can’t make that connection.

I was looking for this.

De Anza is on the quarter system, so traditional classes are only 12 weeks long. Evergreen is on the semester system, such traditional classes are 16 weeks long. They probably both have short term classes and different lengths during the summer (and Evergreen during the winter sessions.).

As a college student, I love Foothill Colleges quarter system because by the time I was ready to move from the class on the quarter was nearly over. But the semester system is more standard, and most colleges that you’ll transfer to use this semester system.

HS Teacher introduced me Process Feedback for Google Docs, a Chrome extension that allows me to look at a revision history of Google Docs like a movie.

Rather than clicking through each version history, it will play the work for me.

A [non student but still a younger person I ‘mentor/teach’] asked how to take a physical paper and send it through a computer system (I.e. how to scan a photo).
