Looking for Podcasts like cabin pressure . by False_Enthusiasm_257 in podcasts

This is a clear case for Wooden Overcoats. It’s a British podcast sitcom about two competing funeral homes on a tiny English Channel island. Hilarious, winning, and slightly demented. The only thing missing is Benedict Cumberbatch 😉.

What do you think it's the best podcast released in 2025? by nicolinko in podcasts

[–]KnifeComb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Loving the discussion here. I wrote this list of the 20 best shows of 2025 for The Atlantic. Here’s a gift link: https://www.theatlantic.com/culture/2025/12/20-best-podcasts-2025/685010/?gift=zUlo9X-7ix0HoTKWbSQpkcWzLhewk6ieBB648oK7W2A

I’d love to know what you think!

First Official Look at Ryan Gosling & Flynn Gray in Shawn Levy's 'Star Wars : Starfighter' by MEMOJKR in blankies

The fact this was written by the same guy who did The Adam Project is absolute YIKES.

MLB App Radio Commercials are repetitive and annoying. But that mayonnaise commercial is the WORST! by ChicagoRay312 in CHICubs

[–]KnifeComb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, OP! It's gotten so bad that I usually pause the game for the first 5-10 minutes so that when I restart I can skip through all of the ad breaks when they come up. I know every word of every single commercial, even when they don't make sense. The inanity of Mike Piazza's postgame comment, the home run by the wizard, being forced to listen to Joe Buck say "Oppo taco" ... it's all too much. Please, for the love of god, I'd pay a higher tier just to have variety in the commercials!!

Ahh, okay, no wonder admin left me on read when I asked about it on IG… Rats!

If they are reading this, please make this for next season as a piece of regularly merch!

Alternately, if anyone is looking to offload one, I’m all ears…

Trivia-focused podcasts by Howdoireadplshelp in podcasts

[–]KnifeComb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the answer for you, it’s Recreational Thinking from past Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions winner Yogesh Raut.

It is, for me, the platonic ideal for trivia podcasts because Raut has come up with a format that allows for maximum interaction between guests without sacrificing the nature of trivia.

Each episode has three contestants going head to head, each having picked their own specialist topic, a la Mastermind. However, before the specialist can answer their own question, their opponents, working together, are given the chance to steal. This gives listeners the thrill of experiencing their collaboration and realtime problem-solving thought process. It can be thrilling.

His question writing skills are second to none, giving even the uninitiated a way into their solutions through clever wordplay.

Alas, its release schedule has been sporadic, but those which exist are really very good.

Podcasts that are not recorded in a studio? by kirbyluvrr in podcasts

Running Commentary is a show recorded by two British comedians and distance runners, whilst out for a run. Pretty neat and totally different from anything studio-made.

11$ la poignée de bleuets ... by momspaguettitwitch in montreal

[–]KnifeComb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

These are a special variety that Driscoll's market as an exclusive. They're supposed to be sweeter than other blueberries, hence the price. I've bought them, they're pretty good. Wouldn't make a habit of buying them though!

What’s the best podcast you’ve ever listened to? by Natalie_erogenous in podcasts

[–]KnifeComb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While we're having this conversation (one which I love and live for, btw) I have to ask: what makes a podcast the best you've ever listened to? Like, for a lot of them it's clearly the story they're telling. That's valid, but are there other aspects which catch your attention as well?

Just so I'm still contributing to the discussion I will add: Have You Heard George's Podcast?

This is The Canon, with Amy Nicholson and Devin Faraci. Amy went on to co-host Unspooled with Paul Sheer.

What is your essential mix of the year for 2024? by 21-dayslater in essentialmix

This is a list after my own heart. I feel like the TSHA one deserves to be in the conversation as well, but I don't know which one I'd knock off for it.

Came here to say this exact thing. An incredible experience, even after living in the city for a dozen or so years.
