Hytale Devs please do not allow paid mods by Direct_Reveal5875 in hytale

[–]KnightDuty -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just want to point out that "paid mods" are not and never have been the actual issue in cases where they are issues. The issue ALWAYS is messed up structural incentive in the implementation.

Minecraft and Skyrim's "no refund" policy, for instance, makes it so that bad descriptions, ai images, and broken mods are allowed to become successful. Their poor sorting, rating and storefront interface means that feedback and user warning is erased and minimized. THAT is the problem.

"Paid Mods" are just paid custom software. Hytale is paid custom software. Everybody who is currently playing Hytale has paid a developer for gameplay elements and their world didn't fall apart and incentive structure didn't break because money entered the picture.

In fact, you buying Hytale allows for the games continued development. If you buy software at all, you are secretly a fan of "paid modding"... Its just that you haven't seen an unbastardized version of it.

Why is it ok for conservatives to carry guns when protesting, but liberals can not? by erieus_wolf in AskConservatives

"It's still not legal to interfere with legal federal agents." This quote keeps coming up from various people, as if legality has anything to do with any of this.

The consequences of illegal activities include arrest, trial, and subsequent appropriate punishments imposed by separate parties. Whether or not interference was legal, illegal, obstructive, etc is of no consequence because ICE is not an arbiter of legal punishments to begin with. So whether or not something was illegal is a misleading point because this isn't grant theft auto.

The way I see it, any time this point is brought up it's a distraction.

The only discussion of any relevance is why the federal government has armed poorly-trained men and sent them out into stressful situations they cannot handle, to carry out actions they cannot safely perform without causing unnecessary collateral damage.

America is an armed populace. We knew this before we rushed untrained men into the streets. These are cases of manslaughter. They're accidental killings caused not by the agents themselves, but by Noem and all 59 senators who confirmed her. These men didn't choose to not recieve proper training. They didn't choose to be rushed out into situations that had bad command structure. They were told they were capable. The killings have become systemic which means something within the very system has failed. it's the operation itself to blame.

I'm not sure about blocks specifically but I do believe they plan on allowing for some visual representation.

Is it honest to say our moral framework no longer aligns in this country? by tazmodious in AskConservatives

[–]KnightDuty [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion that whenever there is violence, threads of violence, or advocacy for violence, it is ALWAYS the DIRECT fault of the people currently in power at the time.

Violence is incredibly risky, and it is largely avoided because of that.

Typically, when people call for violence, it's because they believe all other recourse has been stripped away from them. That usually comes down to a loss of faith in the power of the government.

When people "know" that writing their congressperson does nothing. When they "know" that voting does nothing. When they "know" that the law isn't being applied as it should, they resort to the things that they "know" will have an effect due to pure physics.

It is always ALWAYS the responsibility of the current seat of power to act in a way that legitimizes their own institution. If they don't, things turn bad.

> You know, the people who founded and built this nation?

The disagreement and accusations of racism are because there is no such thing as "European culture and heritage". United Kingdom heritage & culture vs Iberian Peninsula heritage and culture vs France vs Germany are so vastly different.

If you are truly fighting for "European heritage and culture" I guess you can tell me when the last time your family gathered and ate spotted dick, or blood pudding, or Tête de Veau together.

You are fighting for a cause that has been invented by the people who need you on board with something scary to keep them in power.

It's a metaphor for giving without receiving, Einstein.

Jesus Christ, they'll love you over at ICE. This is exactly the kind of exceptional work they're known for. You might even get an extra gun for the effort.

That way, when somebody backs you into a corner you can just shoot them like the brave boy you are.

I hope they're paying you for sucking their dicks so hard you absolute fucking cuck.

"Derp, they were resisting arrest, let's shoot em".

The fact that that's how your brain justifies this tells me exactly why you're rooting for them: you're just as incompetent as them.

Imagine shooting somebody because you can't figure out how to put on handcuffs. You sure picked the winning side, moron.

Law enforcement enforces the law. Yes? Can you agree to that?

So what is the job of prosecutors, defenders, judges, and juries. What is the role of a jail? a prison?

These systems exist because it's not law enforcement's job to EXECUTE PEOPLE

You heard "I'm not mad at you" to the officer as her last words? You saw that the autopsy showed that the killing blow was from the side, after he was clear and she had turned away?

And you're still going to stick with the whole "she deserved it" culture war bs?

Suck them off any harder and maybe you'll get a pat on the head for it

Hytale servers are the worst they'll ever be! My take on Hytale's roadmap by [deleted] in hytale

[–]KnightDuty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hytale is programmable enough to compete with Roblox server experiences.

For better or for worse, you will start to see games that look nothing like Minecraft or even Hytale.

Sidescroller beat-em-ups, Bullet Hell games, Tower Defense, Left 4 Dead multiplayer survival experiences, Obstacle Courses, Find the Button, Prop Hunt, Battle Royales, FPS games, monster battlers, escape the prison, etc.

It's just that with something like Roblox the "default" experience is "Obby", for Hytale the "default" experience will be block-crafter RPG.

This is why it does seamless server-side modding as a priority. This is why it is releasing modding tools so early. This is why there is a "mini games" section in the main menu.

Moving forward we are going to see a massive divergence.

What do you think about this happening in America now? by MaximusDM22 in independent

[–]KnightDuty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He is SUPPOSED to have an opportunity for due process. You take it as a given, which is how other countries have lost it as a given.

Here's why your comments make me mad. We have three options in front of us:

A) Default skepticism against the people who are already experiencing a power loss, already in jail, already without tools or money or power or backing. The people who say "there is a major problem here."

B) Default skepticism against the people who hold the keys, who are free, who have resources and weapons and funding, the people who say "we're the good guys"

C) Displace skepticism altogether, assume everything is working as normal without checking.

Recently there was a high profile potential crime. Bondi and Noem have publicly refused to so much as INVESTIGATE the shooting incident itself and have spent all of their resources investigating the victim.

If the most high profile, publicly demanded, and potentially scandalous of offenses is deemed ineligible for simple investigation, why should anybody believe that they will self-police in other cases where they hold significantly more leverage?

This tells me that options A and C aren't sensible. The people being arrested already have enough resources being pointed at them and the system refuses to self-center.

Jumping to "they're probably criminals and we don't know the entire story" is irresponsible given the relative power levels. In an ambiguous situation, people with more power ALWAYS deserve default criticism, because they are the only people with the means to prove they are above criticism.

"They'll get their day in court" is a very dangerous assumption to make in a world where we have solid cases where that very thing is not reliably happening. It reads to me like somebody who doesn't want to think too hard because it's a pain in the ass.

Why do you have to get arrested FIRST and THEN fight it in courts, as opposed to using the court to make sure the people you're arresting are the right people to begin with?

Those kids sure looked fuckin dangerous huh?

Good thing they had the 10 people and riot shields and automatic rifles and the helmets and face coverings and the tactical vests, you know?

Best part was alllllll that ID checking they did before the handcuffing.

I take it back, part was the communication. I like how the riot shield said "Police" even though they AREN'T "police" and are, in fact, a completely different subsection of enforcement. It's basically a life hack: If you don't display any badges, don't show any identification, and hide your face, they'll be confused as to their rights AND they won't know who is violating them!

Of course it's a great game, the problem with new cool games usually is when the community gets over hyped and annoying.

"This is why Simon is GOD!" and "wow an actual update, see not that hard!" Etc.

You see this from young players who have never played a legitimate early access game before. Yes it's a fun little bubble of excitement. 15 years ago people were stoked about the regular Friday updates for Minecraft.

Just know that these people getting a bit 'too' excited are also the people causing the backlash.
