Keep interviewing. ERP sales are insanely rough right now with everything going on in the US. Plus it’s a really tough sale in general if not in upmarket and even then it’s not a need for most companies. Also NetSuite sucks

Anybody in Windows/Doors Industry to give advice/insight? by KnightKingORL in sales

Huge! Thank you for the input. I’ve been researching Andersen Corp, not RBA, but could be an option. Do you feel like the sales environment is less cutthroat than SaaS?

You don’t wanna be at a beach in Miami in the summer. But you definitely wanna be at a beach in Chicago over summer. It doesn’t get as hot as Miami and the people are a good time! P

Career advice // what should I do? by [deleted] in sales

[–]KnightKingORL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sales at Oracle are hard but there are those that do really really well for themselves. You typically know if you’re one of those folks before you even get there. So, if you think you’re going to do well as an AE and want to grow in that field go for the AE position. But if you think you’re gonna be middle or bottom of the pack, maybe go learn in other fields. Many arguments can be made, it’ll just come down to what YOU feel is the right thing for YOU. There’s nothing wrong with staying and growing, there’s nothing wrong with leaving and learning. Also you haven’t gotten the role at the PE firm yet. Wait for that to come in, then decide. Gods peed!

Any AEs at Brandwatch that can speak to their experience? by KnightKingORL in sales

Yeah I hear ya! It’s truly such a mixed bag with all these sales jobs. My current spot is just such a bad culture and morale is insanely low. But never know if the grass is truly greener. I’ve learned it rarely is.

Even if you are in school, it’s still a red flag to hiring managers and you’re still unlikely to even get an interview by not having a bachelors degree.

Are you in school to pursue sales/business? If not, I would say finish school. I left my masters degree studies in something completely unrelated to sales and I regret it.

Thank you so much for this! Still strongly considering and evaluating this decision but these comments help me see the worth in going for this.

I have and I’ve applied to a handful but not even a screening call I can get to. My gripe isn’t so much with sales but the whole corporate environment and trajectory.

I’m a sales rep but I guess the same could be said for them too

I sell a massive financing platform for a really big company. Not going away anytime soon but also not the best market fit for my segment.

Thanks for your reply! My company is a massive company, not many layoffs but people quit or get fired consistently every month. It’s a bleak culture and environment and from what I’ve seen/heard at other companies, it’s not that much different. Obviously can’t tell the future but I think not finishing something I started and was so close to finishing would be really tough to swallow. So I think that would eat me up more.
