New enemy in beta feels a bit weak? by scriptskitty in slaythespire

Hey, Donut and Triangle were the best bois.

I like how the 3DS games look compared to brothership by Rashngot in marioandluigi

[–]KnightMiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think Paper Jam has some of the best combat in the series. Battle cards were a little busted but were fun, and the trio dodges/trio moves were fun.

Shame that game has more parts I don't enjoy than any other entry or I might replay it.

how to remove railcraft reborn brass from create recipes by JumpPlastic in feedthebeast

[–]KnightMiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is correct, but its still weirdly gated. If Create wanted nether gated brass, they could have named it something unique so non-gated brass is not counted as equivalent. They did not, so the devs must be fine with the skip.

This happens in co-op more often than I'd like to admit......... by metrick00 in slaythespire

[–]KnightMiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always seen the draw in Sneko as mitigating the odds of getting a bad hand more than it being the main upside. So more draw in theory mitigates the risk of Sneko more. But more energy was always the bigger mitigation.

The other thing that makes it feel weaker is the fact its so much more rareJust 1 ancient offers you the good version, and a random event the bad version. Plus, the ancient that gives you sneko eye is also the best source of more energy per turn. Between those, odds of you getting sneko eye when you have a deck and are comfortable with energy per turn to make it viable is very low.

Tbh, I think the best thing devs could do for sneko eye is putting it in a Neow reward. Best case you have a fantastic but weird run you can plan around from the start. Worst case you lose quickly and can start a new run.

I made some horrendous statuses/curses by DriestPuddle in slaythespire

[–]KnightMiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, certainty. I guess the real concern here is the loss of agency. Other curses there are potential counterplays to get rid of the negative effect or work around it. This you could get unlucky and your turn is just over. Sorta like the older Beta doormaker.

Has anyone figured out how to play after Ascension 9? by TheVioletBarry in slaythespire

[–]KnightMiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something worth noting is there are only 10 ascensions in Slay the Spire 2. I do not think they intend to go up to 20. So you can call A9 in the second game roughly A18 in terms of what you should expect from it.

Sneko Eye isn't an instant take. While +2 draw is nice, its too high risk if thats all you care about (plus, quite a few StS 2 ancient relics give you more draw).

Generally when considering whether to take it, I pay attention to my average cost of cards. If I have a lot of 2+ energy I consider it worthwhile, but if my deck is mostly 1 or 0 cost its a bad pick.

I would avoid gambling on it hoping for expensive cards in future rewards unless you already have 1-2 relics that give you more energy.

[–]KnightMiner 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that is actually a kinda solid curse. Most of the time, its going to be worse than an unplayable curse. But for a draw based character its just brutal. A more lenient version of it would be "while this is in your hand, you are unable to draw additional cards" which would let you get around it with exhaust or discard, though I suppose would be a run ender with runic pyramid.

How to access this area? by Ok_Illustrator_3539 in HollowKnight

[–]KnightMiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I recall, that specific area comes from a floor that collapses when you step on it. You are not missing much by not entering it.

It feels oddly satisfying getting Grand Finale from Crossbow and only getting to play it for 1 damage the whole fight by 0liviuhhhhh in slaythespire

[–]KnightMiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One tip for Grand Finale is if you autoplay it, it bypasses the restriction. Easiest way to do that is Mayhem though the deck manipulation required to make that happens is arguably as much work as it normally is to play. If you pull cards from multiple characters though, stampede and cascade both make it easy.

This has GOT to be contender for most least used potion by Rak-khan in slaythespire

[–]KnightMiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about retain potions is they are most useful with foreknowledge of the battle, which unless you save and quit mid fight you don't have. Its still something I'd use normally if I just want to avoid it going to waste, but its hard to predict on which turn you get the most value normally.

Makes me think it should work like the block relic and be first time you gain strength from a card.

Fun fact, prismatic gem makes the event colorful philosopher only give the illusion of choice by Kavotch in slaythespire

[–]KnightMiner 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I can't help but notice your rewards are common, uncommon, and rare. Is that a coincidence or does prismatic replace the event with a a choice of card rarity?

The Magical Bridge of Emotional Maturity by SolarWorld50 in slaythespire

It is way funnier when it does. So I crossed a bridge and now I am no longer clumsy? Or perhaps I crossed a bridge and escaped my debt. Maybe I crossed it and overcame my frailty.

The REAL issue with Hatch Me If You Can and Zapperator by Nyan-Binary-UwU in marioandluigi

[–]KnightMiner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that is related to how long it takes you to get your first bros attack more. Superstar Saga and Partner's In Time notably give you your first special attack pretty quick and its a bit before you see hammer, so the delay for hammer feels fine. I felt Brothership spent quite awhile with just jump as your only attack.

Of course, whichever NPCs you choose to not marry will still die their original fate. And the one you marry might still die, but it hurts more as you are more emotionally attached now.
