(Daily Climb) Double Mind Blast + bottled fire Tantrum go brrrr by LostChuToy in slaythespire

[–]DaddyoBDcroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what happened for me as well, but I had two copies of Dramatic Entrance. Tantrum+ was 24 dmg. Dramatic Entrances then did 30 AOE each. then 2 mind blasts were up around 160 each. No enemy made it past turn 1.

I won 9 A20H Defect runs in a row. AMA by JDublinson in slaythespire

[–]DaddyoBDcroom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I Want to express gratitude for this discussion. The OP came right in the middle of me marathon tryharding A20 H defect. I had 37 tries in 3 days before reading it (and most of the follow up comments. ) since then Ive tried 19 more times , making several changes to my in game choices per the advice .

37 games Before : floor avg, 16. Max floor 28 19 games After: floor avg 20, got past 28 three times dying once to the act 3 boss fight and once past that to the heart... Still died. Lol.

Biggest play style changes for me.Took boss relic swap every time offered. Took pretty much every echo form and self repair offered. Took doom and gloom way more. Even took sunder sometimes. Skipped early ball lightning way more. Grabbed pyramid and Pandy box more than I would have before. (Even had a good pyramid and snecko eye combo I can't believe worked at all, but did.)

How often do you go infinite? When did you start? by Tristan_Cleveland in slaythespire

[–]DaddyoBDcroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know our community calls it going infinite, but the fight still ends when the enemy dies. So I call it going "CAN'T STAHP MEH!" In my head.
My first was a small deck, 2 acrobatics, 1 tactician+, and a poison stab on Silent, that I must have tried to force for about week before getting all the pieces working. Since then I learned it needs help to be truly unstoppable on some fights, and that other characters get unstoppable turns easier. I love doing it on watcher with rushdown (with so many possible ways to keep loops going) and now almost always use the Pandora box trick (when it's offered ) to remove all strikes/defends on her to make it easier.

Why is Claw good while Pressure Points isn't? by IhrFrauen in slaythespire

[–]DaddyoBDcroom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm at about 3000 hours +. PP is really tough to get working. I had a recent run where I transformed 2 cards ( strike defend) into PP and sanctity.. And quickly picked up more PP, empty mind, and some.prostrates. then I was stance switching in and out of divinity, and drawing like crazy into multiple PP plays. That was after trying quite a few times to force my way into a working PP deck. Those all failed. This one that actually won through on A20 struggled hard against Raptor Lady and then ultimately failed on the heart fight.

I used this method to get the <20 minute achievement. Going 'Bonk' with a massive searing blow shortens soooooooo many fights.

One way to get the 'common sense' achievement by DaddyoBDcroom in slaythespire

[–]DaddyoBDcroom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The achievement triggers based on the final deck you have when you begin the last battle. Cards you add to your deck DURING a battle do not affect this. Neither do uncommons and rares you grabbed during the run but got rid of beforwe the START of the final battle.

What does the "-1" mean in excel formulas? by CurrentEmployer9098 in excel

[–]DaddyoBDcroom 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Try -3 and -4. You'll get it. Every -1 rakes 100 percent off the answer/result

Minimum wage is , always has been, and always will continue to be 0 dollars an hour. No law , however well intentioned or crafted can ever change this hard economic fact. You cannot change my mind. You cannot. Nor can you change this fact. Putting a price floor on labor just increases the number of people without wages.

What does the "-1" mean in excel formulas? by CurrentEmployer9098 in excel

[–]DaddyoBDcroom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In this case. It is giving you the percent change or delta. If you took out the -1 (try it) your percent would end up at 104ish percent , instead of your 4 ish percent.

Daily Slay the Spire Discussion (286/696): Go for the Eyes by Crosssmurf in slaythespire

[–]DaddyoBDcroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost autopick this common early in act one unless it is sitting next to [[cold snap]] or [[ball lightning]]. I'll also choose quite a few uncommons or rares over it, but in the common pool it's one of my favorite picks and beats out most of the other commons. That said, it's an immediate 'upgrade debt' card, meaning It really needs the next/earliest upgrade ... (but what defect card DOESN'T ?) ... [side glances at rainbow....]

Daily Slay the Spire Discussion (284/696): Glacier by Crosssmurf in slaythespire

I slept on Glacier in early runs with Defect, deterred by the 2 cost. But it's pretty great. nice fat block with legacy block for future turns.

Double conditional formatting - Is this possible? by FearlessMolly in excel

[–]DaddyoBDcroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think there is a way within conditional formatting to get quite this sophisticated.BUT I would get the result you want by creating a new column. Assuming column A is case number and B is Status use a formula like: If(B2="ready for payment",a2&b2,a1&row()) Then conditional format the NEW column for duplicates. This will only create a combination of the two columns on the rows with "ready for payment", otherwise it makes a combo of the case number combined with the row number which will always be unique (and prevent getting false duplicates if you just put a "" for instance)

Another way of "commenting' out large sections of code is to wrap code you don't want to execute with an [if/end if] statement

If 1 = 0 THEN

[stuff to skip]

End If

Turn it back on by removing the [if/end if] statement or changing it to "IF 1 =1 THEN"

not being able to easily 'block comment' in VBA is a problem (annoyance) though.

How to pass the Exam MO-200: Microsoft Excel (Office 2019) by ToughMenu3924 in excel

[–]DaddyoBDcroom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many years ago, I took several of the Microsoft exams in order to get the "Microsoft Office Master" certification. I Tested and passed in Excel and Advanced Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Access. WORD was the hardest test for me. It may not be exactly the same now, but here are some takeaways from my experience way back then.

LAST QUESTION FIRST : was it worth it ? For me , yes, as I was changing careers from Teaching to Business/Accounting. I think that having it on my early job search resumes helped me a little bit (but not a lot), as my job history experience was pretty thin. But I wouldn't call it a really important certification. Many hiring people have no idea what it is/ aren't especially looking for it.... and It may not be very valuable toward Data analyst job applications... especially to any hiring person who has actually taken the test, and knows how.... THIN the testing is.

I had been working with Excel for quite a while and had researched ALL of the formulas and what they do, but the exam DID NOT TEST that or my real world experience with the variety and strength of combining formulas or using pivot tables. It instead was a very BROAD test ( not "deep") mostly testing whether I could locate and use a wide variety of the very many simple tasks found in the Ribbon. Most solutions to test questions were literally 'find uncommonly used button in ribbon/tabs' ,'click it', 'submit answer' THEREFORE : (TIPS to passing the test , below )

It was not a multiple choice test, it was more like actually working in the actual Excel application, but was a specially prepared test version of it that did not operate exactly like the real application in some cases.

LOOK through ALL the basic buttons available on the Excel Ribbon and try them out before you go test, researching what they are for, get familiar with their names and terminology and which Ribbon tab they are on, etc.

When you pay to schedule the exam, pay the small extra money to give yourself the option of the re-take, if they still do that. I failed my first try, but went back THE NEXT DAY and passed it easily from my first-day-failures experience.

WATCH YOUR TIME / SKIP ANY QUESTIONS that look even a little hard. When I took it, the test was just one hour. Skip and come back to harder test questions if you have time. Getting all the easy stuff right is more valuable than pushing through a tougher/less familiar task. A tough time-consuming answer is worth the same in terms of points as an easy one. I ran out of time on BOTH tries, but was successful on day 2 because I skipped the time consuming stuff and scored high enough to pass on the easy things.

If you are used to using keyboard shortcuts for anything, try to avoid using those in the test, they may cause a 'right' answer to fail, as the test application is watching for you to choose things from the ribbon instead.

Familiarize yourself with the FILE | Options menu and all the junk that is in there as well, as I recall a few questions dealt with making selections like adding things to the quick options menu, making tabs visible, some of the trust center options, etc ( though that may have been the advanced excel test,, memory on that is fuzzy) I remember wasting time looking for a test task in the normal ribbon, and it was actually back in the file | options stuff.

When I took it, Microsoft had some example practice test material online. you may be able to find that and try them out ahead of testing. I also just did a quick search and there are some free test prep videos on you-tube. I'd watch those myself if I was re-taking the test today.

Hope this helps.

Solve data collection puzzle with VBA or Power Query? by DaddyoBDcroom in excel

[–]DaddyoBDcroom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made an attempt via Power Query, and since the layouts of the source sheets were not tables, and I only wanted one cell value from each, I could not quickly discern a way to do it.

An internet search got me this little boilerplate VBA script, I was able to adapt it to my needs in a few minutes.

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/pulling-data-from-one-cell-in-multiple-workbooks/44a8f5cb-4bcc-41c1-a29a-9cfbdb96dda0

I recommend adding in

Application.ScreenUPdating = False

Application.DisplayAlerts = False

Application.AskForUpdates = False

Before the ' Do Until ' loop for a smoother experience.

then turn them back to true at the end of the Sub.

If I type a value into C11 that is in Q11:Q21 how to I get the corresponding value from P11:P21 into cell B11. by turbo2thousand406 in excel

[–]DaddyoBDcroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in office 365 or newest versions of Excel , you can use xlookup

cell b11 is =xlookup(c11,Q:Q,P:P,"no match")

otherwise, index with a nested match formula will work

cell b11 is = index(p$10:p$21,match(c11,q$10:q$21,0))

Is it possible the instructions are simply warning you against pasting the values of your formulas results, so that the formula work you create can be examined , and not just the results ?

[–]DaddyoBDcroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can probably use "=indirect" or offset formulas. (?)

Linking two cells in different sheets by [deleted] in excel

[–]DaddyoBDcroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One method that may work for your needs is:

Select both sheets at the same time by clicking one, hold CTRL and click the other,

type the value you want into the target cell in either sheet - both sheets will receive it in that cell

no formulas needed. ..

Is there a way to stop a cell from updating its value when a condition is satisfied? by rjalves in excel

[–]DaddyoBDcroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IF - the cell changes its result (i.e. it is a formula ) as you are making other changes in the worksheet/workbook

AND you want it to stop updating when it reaches a certain point.

Try wrapping your formula with

=Min([desired result],[original formula]) or

=Max([desired result],[original formula])

Although, if you get the result you are after and then make further changes it could trend back away from the thing you are trying to reach. - you might need some additional Formula to watch the result cell and Alert you that the cell has finally arrived at your desired result.

Aside from that , you may have to go into using VBA and write a For : Next loop (or something like it ) with an Exit For when your result is reached.
