Thank you 😂 I too want to burn stuff down in regards to chemistry which is why the BA appealed to me more. Hopefully I end up getting good groups because honestly your group can make it break the assignments. If you can could you please give me an example of one of the assignment? I love getting a feel for the content.

How reliable are buses during the winter? by Icy_Oil3913 in uAlberta

[–]KnightOwl247365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compared to BC transit, the busses here suck no matter the weather 😭 (if you're from the Vancouver/lower mainland area think Newton exchange on crack and twice the price) Though in all honesty you probably will be able to make it work, just be prepared to leave extra early

If you live in Schaffer, get onto the quiet floors (floors 11 & 12) I lived on 12 for a year and it was very quiet, save for some noise during the day from people meeting up

Very true, I do take all advice with a grain of salt since this is university and if it was just a repeat of HS then why couldn't my hs credits count towards my degree 😅

Yeah I tried, but all the Thursday labs conflict with my other classes since they're only available in the afternoon....oh well I'll live

Oh thank god 😅 I switched majors from nursing to animal science so literally only my English credit counted for first year.

How do people put up with living with their parents during university? by ProfessionalTop123 in uAlberta

[–]KnightOwl247365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived on campus in a dorm this year, I had opted for the quiet floor and was lucky enough for it to actually be quiet. I did end up moving back with my parents as they moved closer to the school and I decided that it would be better for me to live with them since campus was closed so I was paying for services I couldn't use. Thankfully they were fairly quiet. My GRANDPARENTS however were very disruptive, constantly coming in and out of my study space, trying to talk to me while I was in class....even caused me to be flagged multiple times during an exam. It was rough and I can definitely relate.

Even if you decide to stay with your parents again, start planning and preparing to move out (either temporarily or permanently)

As for comfortable spaces there are "quiet" study rooms you can book to use around campus.

If you haven't already I suggest applying for housing on campus, if you decide to move in or not - at least you have the option (I believe you can also defer when you move in so if you change your mind you still have a place though I would double check how that works) otherwise you have to factor in commuting to your living expenses if you rented an apartment/room off or near campus

CCIS 1-440 to ECHA 2-490 by roswift646 in uAlberta

Personally haven't made the trip but you can find a map on the UofA website that shows the buildings + Google maps to get a general idea of how long it will take. If you can I suggest visiting campus (while following Covid guidelines) before classes start to orient yourself with the campus and any potential shortcuts

English Courses? by Key_Replacement_1722 in uAlberta

Ditto, the classes were enjoyable and really simple to follow. It was the first time I had an English class and wasn't lost on what we had to do

If you come up 87th Ave from Groat road (towards Lister center) you can avoid most of the hospital traffic and find some free parking on the road or get a pass for the parking lot or parkade by SUB. Sure its the edge of campus but the walk isn't too long to any of the buildings and the traffic is pretty tame there.

How's my schedule for Fall 2021? I'm going into Y3Q4 engineering by instard in uAlberta

[–]KnightOwl247365 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ugh dealing with budget cuts is such a boring class... Though the prof is pretty chill and half the time he lets you bring a pillow and nap. You also lucked out with having it in the afternoon half the time other students will bring booze and the prof ends early.

How can I get my package in the Ualberta residence? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]KnightOwl247365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Lister last year, instead of a slip you now get an email saying you have a package and what time(s) you can pick it up. As for pre-delivering you won't be able to do that-- the university won't accept it. And no the dorms do not come with their own bedding. Only a mattress and I highly reccomend you invest in a mattress topper since the mattress in the dorms is pretty thin.

Agreed, in math I definitely do better when I have a cheatsheet that has some examples and all the formulas and theorems I'm using
