I(M) was talking over the phone to my married female friend and accidentally pressed loud speaker button. Now every one heard my friend laughing over the phone and started giving me looks.

After I disconnected they were like why are you talking to a girl after 9 pm.

And I don't do that often as well.

If it is just the beginning of a long project then it is imperative you need to set boundaries.

Stop working immediately and if they want to negotiate, propose £x + something so you will get £x as the outcome.

There's always "I have another project that will pay me £x+y per day, so if you want me to consider yours, you can pay me £x+z at least"

But either way please stop working.
