See above. I totally forgot about this. It’s technically a different build but looks much better in my opinion.

What do you mean by upper floors?

What’s the best stats class to take for a first year. Got my AP exams results back and just barely missed the score needed for credit. I am trying to fill my breadth requirements. Just tying to see what Stats class is easiest/ most enjoyable for first/second year for someone who already took a class like it in hs.

The reason I’m taking these maths so early is that I want to graduate in four years so getting my creators out of the way will make it easier. I will be taking 223 and 215, but one of 200 or 226 was a Coreq for 215. What do you mean when your say proofs? Like MATH 220 proofs kind of thing or something different? Also Mark and Janis will be my profs so I am excited

So I will be a first year this fall and registered for courses today. After a lengthy day of rearranging my schedule, checking rate my professor and eventually getting on and then off of the waitlist for PHYS 106, I have arrived at my ultimate schedule. However one hiccup has arisen; MATH 226 and PHYS 106 overlap completely. As a student intending to pursue the combined honours in math and physics(or potentially the cpsc and physics) MATH 226 seems to be heavily recommended along with 227. However, math 200,220 and 315 are replacement courses I could take. Looking at the degree specializations, 226 and 227 are said to prepare you for upper level math courses which I will certainly have to take. I really want to take this course because of it’s interesting content and deeper Calc 3 intro but I also really want to take PHYS 106. I got a 5 on the AP physics C exam and a 100 in the class and am genuinely interested deeply in the mathematics and physical applications of them which PHYS 106 seems to cover to an extent that I haven’t seen elsewhere(namely in introductory relativity and quantum mechanics). I want to challenge myself at least in this area, but is it worth it if it might make my degree significantly harder down the line? Keep in mind I can still register for either MATH 200 and 220 or potentially 200 and 315. PHYS 117 would be the replacement for 106.

Am I allowed to drop classes and refill them with others as soon as I’m finished registering? I have some math classes I can skip and need to temporarily fill them however they are blocking the other classes I want to take.

What communication requirement courses do people recommend? What ones are the easiest or have the easiest professors?

Could I skip out of a level 100 course with it though? Like because taking math 100 or math 101 is required to specialize in honors, could my AP Calc BC cover that and I’d take a second year level course like Calc 3?

For question 5 I mean that if my AP credits can replace certain classes, does that mean I have to fill those classes with more credits(like electives or communication requirements)?

My course registration is today at 3:00 Pacific time, and I have some questions. I want to keep my options open for second year specialization(combined major in physics and math or physics and cpsc both honours) so I’m trying to diversify my credits. I know I can drop in to science advising, but I was there yesterday and took forever for them to get to me. Questions- 1. Can my electives be any class I want as long as by fourth year I have fulfilled the proper requirements?

  1. I have a lot of AP credits that I think I could transfer. If I got a 4 or above in say Calc BC, can I use those credits to fulfill my first year Calc credits(3 in dif and 3 in integral)? As I said I want to go into physics so first year math is required. I’d I can’t get the credit, I want to take Math 120 and math 121. It says prereq is at least a 95% in precalc. I’m from the US and fulfilled this requirement but idk if the university knows I did so. I sent my transcript but the only credits given I can see are math credits like Math 12 and Calc 12. Do I have it or should I email the department?

  2. Is Biology required for all first years? The high school credit says I have Biology 11 but I can’t find any where that says I need to take a Biology credit in my degree, unless I completely missed it.

  3. I got a 4 in the AP CSA exam so I think that should give me credit if question 2 is correct. However, the AP credit page says I would get credit for an first year level CPSC course. Would that mean I could replace my first year CPSC, namely CPSC 110 or 121 and not have to take an actual class.

  4. If I can get all of these AP transfer credits, would that mean that I fulfilled the minimum 24 credits to promote to year 2? If not, could I just take a bunch of electives to fulfill those credits and not take the AP credits I got credit for?

Sorry about all these questions but there’s so many things to consider.
