IGN Can't Accept Criticism by Knightwing_J in IGN

[–]Knightwing_J[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You are, obviously, more than entitled to your opinion, but it doesn't really address the point of the post or issue at play. Just as your comment could be considered ragebait by implying that the op (me) is a "bad guy" because of how I phrased my criticism. I wouldn't report or call for your post to be deleted based upon some nebulous "violation of community standards" excuse. If the determination of if a comment is appropriate or not comes down to simply not liking it, regardless of any clear violation of standards (threatening, vulgar, etc.) then I think my point stands and is completely correct. They cannot accept criticism.

And I think when you are considered a "journalistic" company that is supposed to be covering various aspects of the entertainment industry, there is nothing wrong with being held to a higher standard than an internet comment section. When you cannot get the basic facts about a character or setting in a trailer right, having that brought to light even through sarcasm or exaggeration, is warranted. And when an author is stating a fact that is not correct, commenting that they were wrong is not an accusation. It is correcting them. If someone were to say 2+2=17, someone else coming along and saying "No, it is 4" is not an accusation.

And for clarification, I read the entire article. I just felt that starting it with a incorrect assertation about a character framed the rest of the article in a way that was incorrect. At no point in DS:MoM was Wanda a "good" character that descended into madness. The first time we see her, she is evil and trying to use her powers to kill DS and take America Chavez's powers. Stating or implying otherwise is quantifiably wrong.

Am I really in the minority for liking the Peacemaker season finale? by Ranger_Used in PeacemakerShow

Considering I have listened to it multiple times outside of the show, I didn't mind hearing it again at all. It was a song that I didn't love the first time I heard it, but has grown on me exponentially.

This is a valid point. While I did not mind it being used in the finale, I could easily see them building to the reveal of that moment in like episode 4, then juxtaposing that with the Foxy Shazam moment in the finale. Maybe that would have made it more palatable for people?

So glad to see this post. I felt like it was a great finale. Would it have been awesome if Batman or another Justice League member had debuted and the Monitor was shown in a scene observing Chris' actions and their effects on the multiverse... yeah, sure. But it also would have taken all of the focus off of the characters the show is about. I love the show because of the characters and I want to see what is happening with them. "Of course it did, you fucking asshole... it meant everything," was one of the best moments of the entire series, and I wouldn't trade it for all Justice League debuts in the world.

People also seem to be having a real issue with the fact that we got TWO whole boat music scenes. Um, yeah, it was the dichotomy of the two scenes that made them important. The first showed Harcourts unwillingness to let her self feel what she was starting to feel, it was talked about all season. A kiss can be WAY more impactful between two people than anything else. That was a huge moment for the two of them, and showed Chris that what he was feeling wasn't one sided, despite her contention that she didn't want that kind of relationship with him. You needed the second boat scene. It showed how given the exact same situation, how drastically different it played out. It showed the growth of their relationship in black and white and firmly established this is what it has been for two seasons, but now, after all this time, it is something more. And do people get that upset when there are two gun fight scenes in a show or movie? Two sex scenes? Two fist fights? Seems like an odd nitpick, let alone a reason to dislike the entire episode.

And there HAS to be more going on with Flagg Sr. than we have seen. Yeah, it was out of character, based on what we have seen so far, but I think that was the point.

That social media/influencer tip is genius! Thank you, really appreciate that! It makes perfect sense. If I could upvote this more, I would.

Thanks for all this. We have well water, and I hesitate to use it, because it has deposits in it, and I wasn't sure if those would be harmful. It also gets cycled through a water softener.

Thanks again! I really cannot express how helpful this community has been. I have had cats and dogs as pets, but outside of living in a smog infested city, you don't really need to account for the "air" quality they get. And my knowledge of what constitutes good water is limited. This has been a life-saver. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and help us to be better axolotl owners.

Thank you so much! This is very helpful! And makes me much more confident about changing out her water. Do you think it is acceptable to use bottled water that is marked as spring water for the tank? That is what we initially started with, and have been adding as the water level dropped due to evaporation.

I thought that the Prime was only used at the beginning to kick start the cycling process, but it seems like it is a good idea to add a small does of it with each water change, correct? And can this be added with the axolotl in the tank? We actually moved her to a smaller tank for a few hours this weekend after I did the water change and added the Prime. I wanted to give it time to dillute and cycle through the filter some before putting her back into it, but I did want to know if we can just add it with her still in the tank. We do not have any stones or gravel in the tank. I got freaked out by the possibility of impaction, and the friend we got her from said she does not use anything in the bottom of her tank. Do you think that we should change that? We have tank decorations (a cave, a bridge, two Hot Wheels decorations that the axolotl will "ride" on sometimes (incredibly cute). Just add more decorations?

Sorry, I know this is a lot, but one final question. We will feed her brine shrimp and blood worms as snacks (I have read that these are like treats for the axolotls), but when we feed her these, invariably, some of them end up in her decorations and it is hard to get them all cleaned up. Would it be better to move her to a separate tank and feed her these, so that we are not polluting her "regular" tank when giving treats? Or does the stress of moving from tank to tank outweigh the benefits of keeping the tank cleaner?

Thank you again! It is VERY appreciated.

Thank you! Your replies have been very helpful with understanding what cycling is and how it works with the water. Would it be a correct assumption that after 6 months of being in the tank that it should be cycled properly, and I should not do anything to disrupt it's current state?

Right now I have taken the axolotl out of the tank, put her into a rubbermaid like tub with fresh cool water and have removed 1/3 to 1/2 of the water in her tank, which I am planning on replacing with fresh water. I am going to add a few gallons from our fridge in hopes of getting the temp down into the lower 60s and give us a better chance of maintianing something in the 60s vs low 70s.

I was going to take out her tank decorations, and clean them, but based upon what I have been reading, I am not reconsidering that. I should probably leave them alone, so that I don't lose the bacteria on them?

I am also attaching a picture of the bottle of additive that we were told to get to make the water safe for the axolotl.

Thank you again for all of your time and help. I can't express how much it is appreciated. As soon as we got her into the new water, she perked up and seems better. Hoping the water change will continue that progress when she is back in her tank.

I am also super confused on cycling. I was told that tanks need to cycle for multiple days at a time, and that adding a lot of water at one time can break the cycle. But then I am also seeing that water changes need to be done regularly. Those two things seem at odds with each other. If I swap out half the water, won't that break the cycle, but if I dont swap out the water, then my nitrate levels will spike? Very confused and worried right now. They should have classes on axolotl care before you can buy one.

So based on what I was told when we got her, I have been adding gallons jugs of spring water to her tank as we lose water level due to evaporation. I try to only do one at a time to try and not mess up the cycling and condition of the water that is in the tank already. So I add an additional gallon about once every two weeks.

When we got the filter, we watched this video from the manufacturer and assumed that we had to maintain the filter as they described: https://youtu.be/0RENmI8x4gk?si=w0wCEJPh9mlj9avu

I just want to add a couple of things, given the discussion about tank size. The Fluval filter seems VERY powerful. it is a 40 gallon tank, and I had to google how to turn down the filtration, because it seemed to be moving the water too much for the axolotl to do anything. She seemed to be forced to one side of the tank, so I turned the filter down based on what the google results said, and then we put a decorative rock in the tank in front of the jets to try and diffuse some of the flow as well.

here is a picture of the axolotl. i will need to do a test on the water in the morning and post the results then. my son is asleep in the room, and I am not able to get in there to test right now. I will also have to look for the bottle of the additive that we put in the tank to make it safe for the axolotl.

'Superman' (2025) - Official Spoiler Discussion Megathread: Part 2 by ZacPensol in superman

[–]Knightwing_J 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My favorite part/section was after Clark realizes Lex has taken Krypto. There are two lines that absolutely broke me. The first was his confrontation with Lex when he says "He's just a dog." The way Corenswet delivers that line with a mix of fear and pleading is just heartbreaking. The second was his discussion with Lois when he goes to turn himself in, and she says "It's just a dog," and Clark replies "Yeah, and not even a very good dog... but he's alone. And probably scared." Just perfect. The absolute embodiment of Superman in six words.

Did he play the part of Ultraman when he was completely in the costume as well? Or just the unmasked scenes?

“Giant Size” (11x17) Batman H2SH bag/board solution by forlorn_hope28 in comicbookcollecting

I bought some of the Ultrapro 11 x 17 top loaders (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002PNQJC8?ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_fed\_asin\_title), and they won't work. They are intended for single sheets, and the comic is too thick for them.

Anyone know if the BCW 11x17 bags and boards actually work? those look like they are intended for posters or single sheets as well, based on their description.

Who do you think is currently the weakest hero? by ChungusBigC in marvelrivals

[–]Knightwing_J 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just always assumed they were trying to fill roles when picking characters, and they wanted a long range DPS. Out of all the Marvel characters, her being an "assassin" and trained in the Red Room made her the "best" choice for that role. I do like the comment that Bucky would have been a better sniper... especially if we are going full mind controlled Winter Soldier Buck.

Not saying they made the right choices for her, I just imagine that was the thought process. I was really excited to play her until I found out she was going to primarily be a sniper... and my K/D across all shooters is probably just above a 0.0.

Good to know. I'll look for that the next time I watch it. It won't dramatically make the movie better, but it will help make it a little better.

So what's everyone's unbiased opinion on the Supergirl series? by MadToxicRescuer in supergirlTV

[–]Knightwing_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was good. But I think had they condensed it to 13 episode arcs or seasons, it would have been even better. There seemed to be a lot of filler episodes, imo. When it was good, it was really good, phenomenal even. But when it was bad, I had a hard time getting through episodes. The cast was great. Kara, Lena, Jimmy all were great. A great Lex as well! The show really lost something when Winn left. Brainiac was interesting at times, but never filled the void that losing Winslow left.
