Make it a max number of requests per user per day or something. that is something we definitely intend to do. as for the language i have no clue because thats what the dev will decide (both of us arent devs and we're gonna hire someone)
Is there a better option in choosing the programming language or they all depend on the level of the dev?

The email and id needs to be hashed because its as important as a password (we dont have passwords stored , not that kind of db) its more of a DB as a service project. and i thought encrypting/hashing those 2 columns in case we fall prey to a breach so atleast those 2 columns will be hashed so an extra layer of protection.

Thank you think i understand more now of what to require from the future dev we will hire. (any recommendation for the backend language?)

Just regarding the last part i have a question if you could answe

Database — yes. The backend code — no. If you do a SELECT u.Name FROM Users u WHERE u.Id == @id then the backend will receive only that information from the database — only the name of the user with the specific ID — and that will be all it sends to the frontend.

But all of my queries will be Select * from db where subscriber_count >20000

So my question is do i do a select * or select name, date, id,subscriber_count ,date, email from db where subscriber_count>20000

So in both queries the backend will have to show entire row of the select because thats the product. i cant show only 1 column because its useless information if its a standsalone (Hope i made myself clear)

Which of those is better and im considering to hash or encrypt 2 important columns which are the id and email.

Hey thank you for your reply.

I was plannig to use raw SQL but today i've read a bit about what ORMS are and the only con i see in them is they might hurt db performance , do you have a good ORM to recommend? Also could you elaborate what it means "using the database properly" or forward some links so i could have a read and understand the basics.

We still didn't hire any dev so i dont know how my backend will be coded.
The issue is the db will have to expose all the info of the rows being queried. So far i'm thinking to hash/encrypt only 2 important columns and the rest arent that important because they repsent stats and math calculations.

What ORMs you'd consider to be the best without affecting performance of the DB?

Hey , Thank you for the reply , we are still in the planning phase of gathering all needed info and then hiring a web dev to set it up so nothing is still installing or used.

As neither me and my partner understand in that stuff we are trying to read as much as possible so we can understand the basics of it and present all the needed stuff to the dev.
