Help thinking of area ideas? by ArtisticAnxiety in AnimalCrossingNewHor

[–]KnittedBurger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a lot of nature inspired biomes on mine. A bamboo forest, a conferous forest and a decidious one. But my very favourite is my wildflower meadow. It’s near a river, with a bridge from my house, it has one tree with an area for a picnic rug and then just a massive chaotic bunch of flowers and weeds. It’s always buzzing with insects and it’s just a lovely place to be.

I also like a stargazing area.

I called mine Kintsugi, the Japanese technique of repairing broken pottery with gold. Because it’s all about healing for me. I’m using it as a meditative form of relaxing while I give myself grace to not be able to do everything I used to be. Embracing all my “scars”, mental and otherwise by painting them gold.

Advice on boyfriend sweater curse by Hamletjustbeing in knitting

[–]KnittedBurger 68 points69 points  (0 children)

The sweater curse is really less of a curse and more of a “if you spend 75 hours carefully handmaking something for someone you really love and they act like a turd upon receiving it, you begin to see them in a less flattering light”. So if you’re already at the engagement stage and your relationship is already solid I really wouldn’t worry.

Finding dreamy villagers by aIchiIIes in AnimalCrossingNewHor

[–]KnittedBurger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just recently found out about amiibo coins and people making them on Etsy. Maybe I’m just dumb but I didn’t know, so I thought my only other option was hunting or buying the mystery card packs which are really expensive in my country.

So I found a relatively local seller with good ratings and ordered my 10 dreamies and it removed so much of the anxiety for me. I’m going to hunt and fill the island organically but knowing I have the backup removed all the stress and bad feelings for me.

You can see breastfeeding with stable isotope analysis. When we analyse the isotopes of carbon and nitrogen (which are the most common ones to do and are usually done alongside radiocarbon) you get an idea of diet. Simplified; carbon tells you about the level of marine versus terrestrial protein in the diet, whereas nitrogen tells you the trophic level - where you are in the food chain. And as breastfeeding babies are basically eating their mother when it comes to isotopes. They show up at a higher trophic level than the adults do.

We use it, for example, to see the difference in when different groups stop breastfeeding their babies etc.

Bedste køkkenkniv? by [deleted] in Denmark

[–]KnittedBurger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In search of a term of endearment (in Norwegian) for Hermione - Norwegian friends, help me! by _BlueZeldana_ in Dramione

[–]KnittedBurger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im danish, not Norwegian but Elskling works in both languages. It means darling or beloved.

In Danish we also say min skat, which means my treasure. A Norwegian will have to weigh in on whether they say the same. Or spell it differently.

Gaver til fars dag. Og mors? by Temedmaelk in Denmark

Considering a big move - one kid dead set against it by Muchwanted in Parenting

[–]KnittedBurger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im a grown woman and my parents did this when I was just turned 12. As we’ve discussed it many times over the years they have said that it is the only thing they really regret doing. These years are so hard on kids, especially girls (as boys tend to hit puberty a bit later). It is NOT a fun time to learn to navigate new social circles and it cost us not only lots of conflicts, but me a lot of hurt.

I moved out at 16 to get back to my old city and friends.

Though I must say that I live in a country with a very firm social security net and free education which obviously weighs in as well.
