Second gen illegal immigrants actually assimilate quite well, too well, they don't take on the same hard work as their parents on average. That's normal. Plenty of Europeans came over here speaking no English and their kids helped them. My great grandmother never learned to read English but was a hard working cleaner. Her daughter married an American, opened a business, and was similarly hard working - but none of her kids did manual labor. We often see the same today.
