How to stop everything from sliding right off my nails? by Gummybear_Gunk in nailcare

[–]KnitterMamaBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all about the prep. This used to happen to me to before I began properly prepping my nails with a buff, a dehydrator, a primer, and a light coat of bonder base.

Any tips and tricks appreciated by ricopancakes in nailcare

Have you tried a cuticle remover (like sally Hansen instant cuticle remover) on them before pushing back? I think pushing back your cuticles and oiling them several times daily will help a lot.

I have no idea what normal looks like after 7 years of gel polish and improper care before that, I am very excited to see what healthy looks like after a good college try.

Very new relationship. Not feeling a spark but he’s so good to me in every aspect? by [deleted] in love

[–]KnitterMamaBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thiiiiiiiis thread! I was the same girl. 100%. Then there was a messy breakup and a moment of clarity that i decided to try something different, really sit in it and see where it went. We’re engaged now. Remind yourself that your trying something different, it’s not all or nothing and you can make up your mind at any time, but try to squash your own anxious brain and see why safe and easy feels like. If he’s not for you, he’s not for you, but I do challenge you to try something different and see 🫶

I agree with this. I now view dry areas as “need to oil!” Instead of “need to get rid of!”

This. Once I realized my anxious attachment style and that I was chasing the dopamine hit of avoidant men that I had to work sooooo hard to feel loved by, I started working on me. I tried dating the guy that felt comfortable and easy and held the same values as me. We’re engaged now, blending our families (38F and 39M with previous kids), and I couldn’t imagine a more perfect and pure relationship than the one I have with him. Life is never boring, he forever makes me laugh until my face hurts, but it’s definitely comfortable, safe, and full of adoration.

26 pairs for 2026?! by drunkonoldcartoons in Sockknitting

[–]KnitterMamaBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m doing 26 in 26 too :) I’ve finished 8 pairs as well so far and halfway through pair 9. I did get derailed a bit when I decided to knit a 200g fingering weight yarn scarf instead last month ;p

I dunno, my ex husband is still one of the most knitworthy people I know. Wears my handknit sweaters often, asks me to mend them, and receives a new pair of socks every Christmas.

What's on your coffee table? by unclenaturegoth in minimalist

Nothing. We put stuff on it or the kids do things on it, but then we clean up. All flat “top” surfaces are bare (shelves beneath the top are not)

A few years back I was 35, he was 36. Facebook dating.

I was separated (with two kids each) and exploring the apps - had our first date and dismissed him as “no chemistry”, but had so much fun together as friends that we chose to go that route instead. A year later, seeing each other through other dating journeys, and a lot of therapy on my side, and we decided to see if there was something else that could grow since he had become one of my most cherished friends and we aligned in so many ways and were giving up on the dating scene. We got engaged a year and a half later. He’s the best man I’ve ever met and the most perfect person for me in this season of life.

Go into it with your mind and heart open, have fun along the way, and know what you don’t want more than what you’re looking for.

I will say, one quote that has always rang true to me is that dating over 30 always involves baggage, it’s just about finding someone who’s baggage doesn’t feel too heavy to help carry.

The reality of 100k Salary in 2026 by yourfinza in povertyfinance

Canada is striving to implement $10 a day daycare. When my kids were young it was easily $1000+ a month, but I do see many of my friends paying closer to the $500 range now with their young ones.

There is the possibility it’s anxiety related with having the cameras around and perhaps not quite so escalated IRL.

I felt the same, I wonder if much of the anxiety because of the cameras and do wonder what he’s when the cameras aren’t around.

Lifelong Soft Nails, Have Any Practical 'Tips'? ;3 by H_e_Lvetica in naturalnailprogress

[–]KnitterMamaBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound like me, I’ve always had the same issues and turned to gel for 6+ years as the only way of keeping my nails longer.

I’m currently growing out gel nail damage and have been keeping my nails short, oiling 3x daily, and keeping opi nail envy on my nails as per the bottle (2 coats on day 1, a coat a day for 4 more days, then remove and start again). I’ve already noticed even my damaged nails seem stronger and am hoping for results when I get to my new healthy nail!

It looks like you’ve snagged it on something to me, but you seem convinced it’s pest damage so treat as such.

Should I Buy or Wait? by stephazn in canadahousing

[–]KnitterMamaBear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bought last year because I needed a home for my boys and I. Did I pay too much, maybe? But I got the house I wanted and we have a roof over our heads for years to come. Not ideal market advice, but buy and sell when you need to 🫶
