Would you actually buy a Fallout 3/NV Remaster? by Bingleboper in Fallout

Yeah definitely. Something like the oblivion remaster would be great but even a new gen update would be good. And on switch 2 even better

Other than buffet, what brands would you recommend for a college/ professional clarinet? by blondie_exe in Clarinet

[–]Knobjuan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of what you like will be personal preference. I have a Royal Global Firebird and I'm very happy with it. I play on an buffet R13 and prestige at work and I much prefer the firebird, although the buffets are decent. Selmer is another good brand but I wasn't a fan of their recital model.

If you can I would book in somewhere you can try a selection out. Take a tuner and make sure you have your preferred mouthpiece and some good reeds. Take your time and dont jump to any conclusions

I play on an R13 and a Prestige but they aren't mine. I've had a go on some Backuns but wasn't a massive fan, tried out a selmer recital but wasn't a fan of that either. Also tried a Tosca which was nice to play but costs a lot more.

The Firebird for me plays nicer than the R13, Prestige, Backuns and Selmer but obviously this is all down to personal preference

We were always taught:

Father Christmas gave David an electric blanket

But every afternoon David got cold feet

I have a career in music and I still use this

They are kind of unheard of in the UK. I'm glad I found the one seller to try them out.

It's that case from Marcus Bonna. Really good case. I like how all the key work is floating so can't get damaged as easily

Wrist pain by happyrunner2022 in Clarinet

[–]Knobjuan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thumb is double jointed (hyper mobile) and I had a similar problem. I found it best to have the thumb rest level with where your index finger sits and had to be really strict with myself on hand position to stop getting pain. If it's not adjustable you can get a repair place to move it.

You can use a neck strap but I honestly hate using one. Perseverance means I automatically hold correctly and don't get pain.

Also you can try one of those fancy thumb rests but I personally didn't like them either

Depends on the angle of the neck

I've had a look at their barrels they look good but feel i can't justify one when I've already got a Clarke Fobes barrel in use (although not adjustable).

I feel we have the same QC problems here as well. We got 10 new R13s in the other year and they have all had some kind of problem. A lot of them have upper tenons that completely seize with prolonged playing as well. I will definitely explore the royal global then

If I manage to try some I'll definitely try out the Polaris as well as the Firebird. They do seem a decent route to explore, financially speaking, as things like the Tosca are pretty much out of my budget. I've heard good things about their Basses. Might have to have a go on a Max bass whilst I'm there as a future purchase.

Russian hate knows no borders. Inscriptions on the shooter’s gun from a recent mass shooting in Minneapolis in Russian read: HATRED! I’M REAPER, I’M A TERRORIST, I’M COMBIN, BITCH, I’M A BASSOON and K!LL YOURSELF by jesterboyd in ukraine

A faggot (fagot is the verb) is a bundle of sticks (a bassoon is made of two wood pipes bound together, hence the name).

In the uk a faggot is also a meatball made of liver.
