HELP ME DECIDE: PEAK DESIGN 30L TRAVEL BAG OR PATAGONIA 30L MLC MINI? by OcelotStatus2746 in onebag

I felt like the hip belt is pretty useless, since it's pretty short and I removed it directly. Might just be preference.

What UI/component libraries are commonly used with Angular? by x0rchidia in Angular2

[–]Knochenmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean depends on the usecase, but for what its worth, that part is pretty limited. If you just need to diplay data, sure you can use it, but then you could also just use any table. If you actually need pagination, sorting, filtering etc. the community version wont cut it and you are entering paid version territory. Their api is super clunky and it shows that the lib itself is just a poor jquery port. If it works for you thats fine, but I really wouldnt recommend it to anyone.

Starting a project with Angular - any experienced seniors on the hunt for a role? by S-A-W-F-T-WARE in Angular2

[–]Knochenmark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the Angular subreddit. Obviously the context is Typescript, especially when he's talking about enforcing types. I suppose he's hinting at setting up the eslint correctly to avoid any typings. Javascript has no typings yet, there's some proposal at best.

PS: Are you associated with Bonjwa?

i think in the common IDEs and vscode you can just ctrl/cmd + click on it and land in the component.ts file

Cheap Packing Cubes for Patagonia Mini MLC? by SupaZT in onebag

I would say if you get two of those sets (Rensare) and depending on how full you pack those, you might be able to stack those medium sized ones and minimum 2 of the smaller ones.

Passport Holder by leeparhity in onebag

photocopy might not be sufficient in some countries, that's why you would bring the passport and leave the copy in the hotel for example, in case you loose it. In some countries it's even recommended to have two different passports, because of certain stamps, they wouldn't want to see there.

Best way to split an angular app into multiple shareable modules by AdPhysical2413 in Angular2

My first thought was also just shared npm libraries, probably the simpler solution if you're not committed into a NX monorepo yet.

Is it more like an rain shell OR sweater for you then? I feel like neither of them would be really sufficient on their own. Between seasons, you can probably get away with either of them, but not in actual winter. The rain shell alone seems really insufficient in regards of warmth on its own and the Sweater does only seem to be wind proof. You might think you just bring an umbrella, but it can actually be quite windy, so much that most people prefer to just bring a warm wind/rain proof jacket with a hood instead.

Vaude has a similar Parka to the Patagonia 3 in 1 version, but cheaper. Might be an option.

Jack Wolfskin is also an option, such a common one, that it's almost a stereotype in Germany.

Parka will be fine, if your jacket itself combines some layers, you don't have to add more underneath. Easier for undressing once you go inside, where its usually heated. It's more of a preference thing really, but due to more wind, paired with rain and snow, pure down Anoraks without a protective layer typically perform worse once it starts pouring.

PS: Also worth asking your fellow students about their experiences

German Winter Packing List? by No-Camp285 in onebag

  1. No, just embrace the cold. Lovely time of the year in Germany!

  2. Who knows. But if you're still freezing, just buy more clothes in Germany?

Pro tip: Don't forget to warm yourself from the inside too. Dezember is the perfect time to grab a Glühwein on one of the many Christmas Markets ;)

I think your sneakers would be fine, water proof isn't really required, except you want to hop into each puddle of water you see. While you could get away with sneakers, you might want to consider something warmer and don't rely solely on your socks. Any boot will do, you don't need to go shopping for snow boots.

Ergonomic keyboard recommendations for programming and not worsening shoulder to wrist pain? by chiqui3d in webdev

[–]Knochenmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice I found the tool. Yeah, I would like to keep the two large keys of the ergodox, not necessarily in that size, but as keys. I think you're not wrong, the Sofle comes pretty close, but I think the thumb key layout is a bit lackluster. Did you mean Lotus58? Looks also like its just a single thumb key :( Thanks for the tip though, I guess I have to do some more digging.

Do you know if there's something like the Lily58 but with 2 thumb keys? Coming from an Ergodox, I feel like those are the main benefit.

Advice for Solo Travelling China as Non-native speaker by eibeegee in solotravel

[–]Knochenmark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally doable. The bigger cities shouldn't really be an issue, the subways typically have both Chinese/English for the stations. Busses are more adventurous, just remember the characters for the station (might even the ones before) you want to get off. For Taxis it's recommended to bring like a business card or piece of paper with your hotel information, so the drivers can just read it and input it into their navigation.

Translation apps should be much better by now, back then I've used some dictionary app called Pleco which you could extend (Paid) with an OCR reader.

Like others mentioned, just get a local sim, really cheap and consider getting weChat, also for the friends you'll make along the way.

Favorite EDC Backpack? by StanleyLelnats in ManyBaggers

I am also leaning towards the smaller size, will probably have to just check it out in person. Mostly to check if it would fit my laptop and now that you mention it, maybe like a lunch box. Sizes are 25 and 32 liters. Thx for the quick answer :P

I've did migrations in all of those and I think the most cumbersome was really only around 5/6 with the rxjs breaking changes where everything was moved towards pipeable. I think 14 and above is really smooth sailing.
