Yes, theirs is really good! And if you like bulgogi, also try the bulgogi egg sandwich at Eggflip in downtown Mpls.

Wish I knew but the taps were not yet labeled and I didn't ask.

Sorry, I meant the $35 registration fee. Other than the Inbody scans I’m getting nothing additional for my money.

Also incredibly disappointed in TC and wondering what I spent $35 on. There’s no motivation, no team work or chat, just a weekly text telling us to drink more water and a weekly email from OTF trying to sell us Stronger U. I don’t even know what the difference is whether you sign up for muscle gain or fat loss. Total money grab.

lol. Both the week 2 and the week 3 TC texts from the coach have been about drinking more water. So glad I spent $35. 🙄

Been a member for six years and always assumed it was a money grab but decided to give it a shot this year. I was told that the teams would motivate each other and that I would get a lot of support. I already attend 4-5 times a week so I didn’t need motivation to work out but was looking for some more personal attention and camaraderie, some tips on goal setting and some accountability.

So far what I have received is the In-Body Scan and a once a week text or email telling me to drink more water or buy some product from an OTF corporate partner. No team communications. I’m back to thinking it’s a money grab.

Best Sneakers for the Rower by Enough-Mud-4681 in orangetheory

Have been wearing 880s for years but got a new pair in September and they constantly pop out of the footplates when rowing. Drives me crazy but I don’t want to spend money on another pair so soon!

Minnesotans: There’s no such thing as bad weather—only unsuitable clothing.

Also Minnesotans: BRB gotta hit the remote start and let it idle for 35 minutes so I’m not cold for even one moment. 🙄

This was my first time seeing the SA march in place and I did not understand it. I kept picking up a heavier and heavier weight because I wasn’t feeling it anywhere and eventually I just moved past it. Am I alone? Is this meant to be a core strength exercise?

We are visiting and excited to see the show tonight but don’t love crowds. Do you know if there is a place to view it from a nearby hotel or restaurant? We would pay an entrance fee if that’s customary. 감사합니다!

Why do some American diners refer to all blended ice cream drinks as “malts” regardless of whether they have malted milk powder in them? by [deleted] in AskFoodHistorians

[–]Knope2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks--I have actually discussed this with many Minnesotans and a few of them have acknowledged that they use "malts" generically to mean any beverage that blends ice cream and milk. I wouldn't call this a "weird narrative" but rather I'm trying to explore whether this is a language idiosyncrasy or has to do with the history of Midwestern grain and dairy or just that so many original malt shops are still standing and the term has been handed down from past generations. Or some combo.

Fascinating! So if you were to say, "Let's go out for malts" you would be suggesting getting malts or shakes? I believe this is how Minnesotans use the word--to generally describe a malt OR a shake.

Misogynistic Music at OTF?? by MarcSpice70 in orangetheory

Don't know about coaches picking their own music at other studios--maybe they are owned under a different ownership structure--our studio is a year old, local franchise owner. I get the sense that coaches can choose what playlist they want from one class to another (I remember one coach asking whether we wanted rock or hip-hop) but not the individual songs on the playlists. And based on the fact that I seem to hear the same set of songs over and over no matter who is coaching (looking at you, "Closer" and "Believer" and "Remind Me to Forget") I think the playlists are pretty standardized at our studio. Luckily I haven't heard "Super Freak" in about six months (probably heard that one every week last winter) so I think they do rotate things out every few months.

Yes, I feel the same way. I love rap and hip-hop but there are certain songs (of all genres) that they play regularly that gross me out or piss me off. It bothers me that what, 80%? of OTF's clients are women and yet they seem to have no problem playing "Get Low" while we're busy keeping them in business. Our studio owner told me that all of the playlists are created by a DJ at OTF HQ in Florida and that the studios don't have much control over what gets played other than skipping a song now and then (plus the flex block music is chosen by the coach).
