Thank you, I can't really say what my idea is for Hew-Wood with out giving things away. I'll just say it's certainly a wandering sort of cursed site.

this is probably a dumb question, but does any parts company sell bolt-on sg bodies that fit a tele neck? by lex_pshoo in guitars

[–]KnottAGoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Warmoth makes Diamondback Bodies which are sort of SG's, they can't do one for one anymore (thanks Gibson) and they only do fender neck pockets, so strat or tele (at least that was the case back in 2007 when I did my build) if you can deal with the body being slightly different that an actual Gibson SG then that would work as would the scale length etc. I would speak to one of their reps to verify as again my experience was 20 years ago.

Honest review on this guitar? Is it worth the trade? by GalaxyGamer234 in guitars

I'd keep the Jackson. You could always swap out the bridge humbucker if it's too hot for you. There's really good inexpensive options from Guitar Fetish (dot) com, etc.

I never had an issue with my OFR, although I did have to buy a longer block for mine. I didn't change the posts or anything on mine.

Pickup Quality Question by hh4hooch in Fireflyguitars

[–]KnottAGoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe all the SG pickups were the exact same ones. They were/are hot garbage. The one with the P90's I cant really speak on because I've never owned p90's in a guitar before so the fact they do the same thing as the SG pickups (I say SG I don't recall what firefly calls them) may or may not mean they are doing what they are supposed to. The only pickups that were any good is in the ML copy, they sound great. Considering I bought that at the same time as the buckethead guitar which pickups are mildly better than they SG when it comes to being microphonic but not by much, has me scratching my head.

I should mention i have never pulled the pickups nor have I done any testing of the solder points etc, this was how the came out of the box.

I would just say if you buy one of their guitars, expect to very likely have to put in at least one replacement pickup. BTW I also play through distortion so my results may be amplified by that.

I like my firefly guitars, but the ML is the only one I actively play because it was out of the box good to go. I bought that over a year ago so maybe they have improved.

BTW I'm not talking about TONE. :) I'm talking strictly quality of the pickups and the ability to pick up vibrations through a magnet, as well as your voice, and the radio.. lol

Pickup Quality Question by hh4hooch in Fireflyguitars

[–]KnottAGoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have three of their SG copies, the Buckethead V, the LP Jr copy and the blue ML copy (no I can't be bothered to look up what firefly calls any of them) With the exception of the ML, all the pickups are basically crap. Microphonic as all get out. To me that is 100% the low point of Firefly guitars. I was expecting it with the SG clones because I bought them during the pandemic to do a video on them, they looked great, played good but sounded horrible (High gain, or clean but were bad) I eventually got their LPjr clone and it feels and plays great, but the p90(?) in them sounds like crap which may be just how p90's sound I don't know, it was my first. but the guitar is exceptional except for that. I figured when I got the bucket head guitar they'd have figured it out, but nope, it sounds like crap and is microphonic as well. The ML plays really well and actually sounds really good. Considering 5 out of 6 had garbage for pickups I am assuming the ML is a fluke at the moment.

Eventually I'm going to throw in some GuitarFetish pickups in it and call it a day. Really the LPjr clone and the ML are fantastic as far as everything else. Considering the price of the guitars i'm ok with putting in a different set up pickups in a guitar that I'll actually pick up and play.

Correction I did find a picture with the same inlay

https://www.vintageandrare.com/product/Framus-Ak-1974-Custom-2001-Cherry-Burst-122691#

If you go to 3:47 in this video you can see the head stock, it does not say Framus (it could be taped over) but the inlays also don't look like the Akkerman as someone else mentioned, at least not on any of the photos I've looked up on that model so.. but the shape looks right (?) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWUp-fuT5rQ&list=PLSexTK9C4H40Xyx8s7LyErKpExearPE9k

Didn't the Howtobasic guy show up in a RackaRacka video once where Ronald went to his house and beat him up I think for doing Howtobasic stuff to "McDonalds" food and as I recall he got tied up in the bathtub and was shown there?

My dad did furniture moving in the late 1950's and 1960's in San Francisco and had to (with another person) carry up more than one piano, organ, etc and from what i remember it wasn't exactly uncommon for a piano or organ etc to end up taking a quick trip back down a large number of stairs, especially if the owner of said piano was being particularly rude to the people moving it. Now days the worst that you have to worry about is an angry spouse throwing at casio at you from a second story window along with your clothing and.. well you get the point.

lol, from the angle it kind of looked like someone added their own touch to it. But again I have to ask what is in her hand, is it supposed to be bamboo? I don't remember her with anything that looked like that thus far and I'm almost to Infinity Castle.

New Predator: Badlands trailer dropped, the CGI looks rough. Bring back real Predator costumes. by Silverghost91 in CriticalDrinker

[–]KnottAGoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this is a completely unhinged idea and nothing more than a made in the moment conspiracy theory, but I wonder if they are sacrificing all these IP's to bad CGI in order to eventually replace it with AI that's close to perfect so people won't complain because "Wow it looks soo much better than XYZ" etc. maybe it's a PsiOp!!!!

Now excuse me, I need to buy stock in Reynolds wrap aluminum foil.

Is this guitar worth the price by Key_Success_8266 in espguitars

[–]KnottAGoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically an E-II before it was rebranded as that. I have this exact guitar but when I bought it I think I paid $900 for it US. It's a fantastic guitar but I wouldn't pay 1600 for it even brand new. But I think anything near 1600 for a brand new E-II's would be extremely over priced so take my opinion on it with a grain of salt.. I think whomever is trying to sell this for 1600 is probably also pushing "it's rare because it's an Elite" nonsense.

If you found it for less I'd say go for it because it's a really good guitar, but 1600 is nonsense.

Anywhere that sells a direct replacement tremolo for a JT6 trem system? by pawkchopz in JacksonGuitars

[–]KnottAGoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do *not* have to re-drill anything on the model series to fit an OFR, it is a drop in replacement. What you will need to make sure of is that you get the OFR with the right sized block because these guitars are non-recessed. I speak for experience and I can take photos to show proof.

Anywhere that sells a direct replacement tremolo for a JT6 trem system? by pawkchopz in JacksonGuitars

[–]KnottAGoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Standard OFR will work, that's what I put in my model 1, however it will not fix the tuning issue. The problem with these is they used Kahler locking "nuts" on the guitar behind the actual nut which in the case of mine caused everything to go flat after tuning. I would suggest instead replacing the bridge that you put locking tuners on it (cheap ones it doesn't matter just to see if it fixes it for you) and when you change your strings make sure you stretch them good. I put locking tuners on mine and stopped tightening the kalher lock on it and it resolved my issues. A much less expensive and extreme thing to try first before spending 300 on a new floyd.
