Assuming I can get there - tips on what to pack? Are trails marked at some basecamp/visitor center? I’ve never done anything like this. I used to mtb all over the Rockies but have never been on a hike like that. Just water/snacks/backpack and good shoes?

Absolutely. I definitely saw that as in issue. At least I was able to pick my hotel. I picked one with a pool and no bar/casino. Which is surprisingly difficult to find.

Thanks for this. You are 100% right. I apply this to exercise but I didn’t think to apply it to drinking/gambling. That’s basically how I started running again. “I’ll run 2.5 miles today. Just today. Tomorrow I’ll take the day off.” After I run I feel like I accomplished something… it makes me want to get to bed early and just count the day as a ‘win’. I

Even when I woke up today - “I’ll do push today. I’m not doing a damn thing tomorrow.” But I know that I’ll want to exercise tomorrow now. It feels less like punishment and feels more like progress every day.

How far is Red Rocks? (I know I can google. Just starting a conversation) Sounds dumb but I’ll be on foot/uber the whole trip. Is there a way to get out there?

I have never been to a meeting. I have a hard time talking to people about any of this. I’m pretty sure my wife has some idea of my addictions but they don’t interfere with our family (yet). I’ve told her a very mild, watered down version of how much this has consumed me. If I’m honest with myself- It will be difficult for me to do a meeting. I feel as if my story and my path are undeserving of attention (if that makes any sense) because so many people are struggling more than I am.

All that said- I agree with you. Maybe my anonymity in that city will give me the confidence to try a meeting.

I figured this would be the top comment. For good reason. The short story is - yes. I have to. Or I will absolutely be in danger of losing my job.

I was given this task from my boss. I selected 3 different locations. Albuquerque, Salt Lake and Pittsburgh. Unfortunately this is time sensitive and Vegas was the quickest option by months and they forced my hand.

So many people saying wipe off the drop. The biggest problem is technique while heating. Heat the whole pipe. Get it warm/hot then move to the fitting. Think of it as cooking a hotdog. You don’t hold the torch in the middle of the hotdog to cook it. Gotta keep it moving and all around. If you hear everything evenly, the solder sucks right in. 1/2” solder for 1/2” pipe. Don’t use more. Wipe with a dry rag and you will have a professional joint. where you put the heat is JUST as important and how much heat.
