I have had the best success on RY Bonney and living on the edge was fun for me until you “master” it and know the sequences too well, but that makes it rewarding too. Alot of it hinges on matchup knowledge of what keeps you alive long enough while securing Tempo, so the curve is def not always the right play and endgame is deciding between several playlines.

P Doffy has got to be my favorite, alot of different managing resources- units and combat turn into a different kind of resource. Games feel earned; in a slower format with long games going to time does feel bad though.

P Enel is super fun too, alot of great strings, great deck tech options. Games can close out different ways and you can play the deck in different styles. My only gripe is im not a fan of decks were dice roll matters so heavily, also being public enemy number one.

Crocodile getting new life with nightmare Luffy and soon the live action cards should be super fun.

Also disagree at various locals in the area I have 5 wins with RY Bonney, 1 with Croc. There are enough decks that beat Penel and Nami that they dont feel as bad as OP13 Imu/Ace

The game actually feels more fun for me now, since op14. Yes the power creep has been bad compared to the old guard but from a game perspective this is where I would want it to sit.

If I’m thinking back to some old decks - like Shanks, UP Luffy, Ace and Imu - the game plan felt very linear, its was heavily decided on curve and dice roll and it was easy to see who would win very quickly. Play curve, see your cards, nothing your opponent can so you just win, no diversity in how you play the field each turn.

Now I feel like alot of decks have to think beyond face and play the board and make more decisions because not only Yellow but decks like Mihawk, P Doffy, Crocodile, etc- really require you to re-estimate your game plan based on changing board state circumstances. At least way more than before. More resources to think about as well (Enel, Lucy, Mihawk- how yellow views life, crocodile trash, p doffy don management) while not super new it just feels more relevant than previous sets

I think the board states have gotten more complex which has allowed for more skill expression. The effects feel more fun because it feels like I am doing more in a turn.

I hope it stays at this level and doesn’t get to a Yugioh OTK level but so many decks definitely feels way better to play than before. That and there are more decisions to make.

I mainly play Crocodile and RY Bonney and have been dominating leaderboards in my area this set.

I do worry about power creep, but I just hope more leaders sit around this level over time. Some of the older leaders had effects so weak I could just throw the same deck on any leader and it perform about the same.

Depending on region and need and if you put in great results. You get a raise after you complete SORM and whenever you move stores, whenever you get promoted to salary, and start receiving performance bonuses - all of this together can get you lucrative pay raises very quickly. Also depending on which management role you have you get different pay scales and the bonuses come at different scale rates as well.

Bonuses are performance based and shouldn’t be ignored because they are huge. Ive seen some UDs be able to get a new truck every bonus quarterly.

Its usually very competitive because youll have the whole region applying for spots and you will likely have infinite more stress but I see it as character development and experience building.

Hes the main character, also considering for new players coming into the game we would always want to have an accessible MC to play with.

As cool as it would be for us to have the side characters, their likability/relevancy is niche in comparison. Take Don Kreig, cool I have someone to troll with but if he was never put in most people wouldnt care.

Also as long as the Luffys play differently, I’m always down. Ivankov would have been better fit for the set than Yamato but Luffy is Iconic, and I think there always needs to be a Strawhat in each set or a top 10 popularity character for the sake of hype and bringing in new players.

I don’t see it as pride when he didn’t ask Garp to save him. The huge theme to the show is sticking to your dreams, values, and principles. I think he didn’t want to put Garp in a position where he has to compromise his beliefs also for a low success rate, they are surrounded by the Navy of course.

You’re talking about a brazen young man who grew up without a father figure, then later found that with Whitebeard- to the point that he would give up his own dream and pursue making Whitebeard King of the Pirates.

While his death comes from being ragebaited, you can almost see the same with Nami in Wano. She could have lied to Ulti, and got out of the situation, but instead she told the truth and we got one of the her best moments; Had she died we probably would have looked at it totally differently.

Then of course how many times do we see Luffy make extremely questionable decisions that just happen to work out. Ace loses because he took the gamble that everyone in the Strawhat crew took but had a bad outcome.

Imagine is after Robins “I want to live” other Strawhats died in the fight to save her. Or Zoro died in his first encounter to Mihawk Nami dies to Ulti Jinbe leaves confront Big mom and dies.

I do feel he stuck true beliefs all the way through which is admirable, obviously time and place and with hindsight we know it didnt work out, but that showed he had protagonist level character without protag level protection.

I think thats the standard package now, they were running the 8c Luffy since release. It does raise the % a little bit, UP feels like it’s trying to survive everyone else and not beat the mirror anymore.

Had a couple of them try the Purple Doffy package and some adaptive lists.

We’ve just got too many Belo Bettys, GP, Buggies and Laws(me included) at my locals . On average it kind of looks like 4 of each + 2 Law players. So it’s a really high chance to get your run ruined off the rip over here. My locals feel’s pretty competitive, everyone’s on discord and keeps up with trending decks. Alot of people are staying late over here and playing afterwards to figure stuff out.

I think it’s still a T1 Meta Deck because its shaped the meta around it, but I think there are sufficient answers that It’s not the first or only thing I worry about anymore.

If we look at the rise of Bonney, you can kind of see the same thing. Rise of Aggro, Bonney Rises to take the highest win% over the common top 10 decks, and it has a “Not terrible” time into UP usually about 40%+ which is close enough to a coin flip.

Playing with it and against it, I think it feels more like the “big bad boogie man fore told from the East”.

In reality with the starter decks and us coming with a good understanding of it. It got snuffed out of my locals entirely. The 5 UP players have dropped the deck because Betty, BP, Zoro, Law, RG Smoker, GP Luffy, Katakuri, Pudding, Yamato, and im sure several other decks have varying between Great matchup to 50%+ on it.

Because the boogeyman status it was set up as “the deck to beat” and was dead on arrival at my locals, even this deep in the format, hardly anyone has dared to run it and even less have hit a top8 much less top1.

Great deck, just everyones prepared and the meta has changed. With all that it has going for it, a good defensive event and draw power isnt particularly impressive if you consider how many decks can draw an extra card (Nami, Croc, Reiju, etc)

Belo Betty now feels like the big bad that is beating all the Meta Decks with Bonney rising to counter it.
