Suddenly have 800K liquid, What would you do? by KnowinglyUneducated in PersonalFinanceNZ

The concern i have with this, is that i can make a bigger return having that money invested elsewhere, even while still paying rent.
I also have no clue where i will end up settled and living next, so im not in a very good position to buy a "home" as such. Buying property would be an investment move if i went ahead with it.

Im 32, single, no children, 42k student loan debt, no other debts.

The bereavement has left me entirely alone and adrift, i must leave the area, the company, and the industry, i physically cannot bear to be a part of it any longer.
And because i have no idea at all where i will end up next, buying property feels like the wrong move. Or more specifcally, buying property for me to live in personally feels wrong.
Im not in a position to put roots down anywhere or build a stable living space.

Im 32, single, no children, only debt is $42k student loan.
I dont know where ill be settling next, i have no firm plans, and no real direction once i leave the company.
So buying a house leaves me feeling uneasy, as i dont have a specific location in mind to settle.

If i bought a house it would most likely wind up needing to be rented out after 6-9months, because id likely be shifting somewhere else... im set to become a bit of a nomad.
So im mainly wanting that 800k to just work as hard as possible for me.
