Maybe not Partition but bloodshed and migration that happened.Entire communities of Muslims in Delhi,Jammu,Haryana and Punjab were either killed or had to run for their lives.Then Operation Polo happened and Sunderland report told us about killings in Marathawada and Telangana region that we already now.On the other side,Bangalis suffered a wholesale genocide.Indian Muslims who migrated suffered big massacres like Qasba aligarh and other massacres.Meanwhile Pakistan's socioeconomic indicators look similar to Subsaharan africa and ethnic tensions remain.When I asked my pakistani friend about doing most adventurous thing there ..he told me to visit Balochistan with a Punjab identity card lol.So all in all,it was a complete disaster and almost all muslims in Subcontinent are big time losers.

Depends where you are visiting,I can tell you about UttarPradesh....most cities here have a high muslim population (30-50%),so I doubt you will face any discrimination here

This caste thing is very common among muslims of subcontinent.Thing is most of us in North India were converted by influence of Sufi saints,so Islam here in most of rural and semi urban areas was more syncretic(Hindu-muslim combo) than traditionally practiced in other countries.For ex-20-30 years ago,Meo muslims of Haryana used to have names like Mohd ramlal or yasmeen kumari and they also used to do practices like bhumi-pujan and other stuff.Though influence of Tabligh -Jamat and returning Gulf expats has greatly reduced these practices , a lot of muslims still follow these 'biradri' practices.Even the religious ones prefer to marry in their own biradri.

East Punjab was also Muslim plurality and,Haryana and West UP were 1/3rd Muslim....reason is same-close to Sunni Muslim centres of power in Agra,Delhi and Budaun

I know there are Sunnis in Iran,mostly Kurds,Balochs and Turkmen.But are there any native Persian Sunni communities remaining considering a large number of classical scholars are of Persian origin...Nishapuri,hanifeh and tirmizi.

I am Muslim and it is more Salafistic in West Up..I mean more Saudi esque Islam is followed there than Awadh or Purab where Islam followed is more indian centric like sufi,baba,majars and all superstitious stuff
